Name: Kristina
Age: 26
Location: Cobar NSW (just about in the middle of nowhere). We tend to move around every few years or so, neve know where we'll end up next - recently moved here after living in Townsville for a year.
Riding since: I discovered MTB while I was still in high school, just used to take my Dunlop MTB & ride it up whatever local hills were close in Canberra where I lived - explore the surrounds really, also discovered the AMB mag at about that time.
Bike: Giant Trance 3 - just got it this year, my last (and first real bike) was a Specialized Hardrock Comp 2001 model.
Ride: Whatever is around really, haven't lived close enough to too many"real" mtb tracks. I guess you could say just trail riding - would probably be all mountain if we had any!
Style: What's style? .. . . . .. As above I'd give a bit of anything a go (I'm pretty chicken when it comes to jumps though). Have pretty much always ridden solo. Ummm, don't wear lycra, my gear is regular day to day shorts & a cycling jersey, gloves etc.
Day job: At the moment looking after the kids, one is going on to 4yrs old the other is nearly 2yrs, so I've really only started to get back into MTB this year after a cuple of years having other priorities. Will be looking for a Casual job soon though, whatever I can get. Almost became a rock licker (Geologist) though as far as carreers go.
I always take on my ride: Camelback & mobile phone.

As you might have read elsewhere I am Maxine and I am 85 ha ha, no seriously Squid has changed my date of birth so I am not that old, I am fairly new to mountain biking but have been in it for a number of years as support staff for all my "boys". I am also the NSW Co-ordinator for MTNX organising the State Rounds, mind you the clubs do 99% of the work, I just have a title.

I ride a 2007 Cannondale Prophet 600, have done a bit of dh and have recently tried MTNX, which I really enjoyed. I ride trails as well with my son and a friend, they are both too good for me though they are very patient, and I really enjoy to the riding, except when I stuff up.

I am in Sydney, fairly central, and am sooooo pleased you are all coming out of the woodwork so to speak.

Hopefully, I will see you around at some of the races club or State level.:D

Good to see you watching over us Gill, keep in touch.

HT dh ey, to harcore for me! whats the knolly like, i dont belive ive heard of them before?

Please note earlier post, Style = Slow Motion. There's nothing hard core about my hardtail dh'ing!
The Knolly comes out of BC (small producer- Noel Buckety). The Delirium T is a 6" All Mountain/Free Ride bike (think Specialized SX trail) that can be set up slack and is available as an XS. This will be plenty of bike for me.
Hopefully this will give me a little more confidence and improve my DHing.
We live in hope!

Hey, I'm Lisa!
I'm 20 years old and live in NSW Australia, working in retail/hospitality (waitressing, ahhhh!) and studying via correspondance.

I've been riding since my boyfriend suprised me with a hardtail for chrissy last year :D so I'm still learning heaps and loving it!!

Downhill is awesome!! I have way more fun pushing up to ride down :p than the endurance of cross country riding, but in saying that, I still enjoy riding around the cross country trails close by.

I'm looking forward to getting to know some MTB gals and picking up any tips from those reasonably new to riding and the more experieced : )

Welcome Lisa,

Yeah, mountain biking is great fun and downhill is cool. I agree that the hard slog of cross country is an acquired taste though I do like trail riding, you can find some really pretty spots out there.

Hopefully, you will meet some more girls in and around Tumut who will ride with you. If not come down to Thredbo for a weekend. How about the Nats in December?

Anyway, great to hear from you and welcome. :D

It would be great to head to Thredbo, I love that place, aswell as the beautiful alpine drive to get there! I haven't ridden Thredbo yet, I'm waiting to get the all clear from Rey hehe, to see if i'm up to riding it or not:p

Nationals would be cool!! Hopefully we'll get there to spectate.

Hey Maxine...

I'm still in winter mode ATM, but just came back from Canberra picking up the Princess's new roadie

We are in Canada from 30th December to 30th January.... looks like we get back a few days before the Chix weekend at Thredbo, so that may be a bit of a punish  both physically and $$$$$.

We are off to the Scott 24 hour in 2 weeks, but apart from one brief ride for me, we haven't been on bikes all winter (since July).

South Shore will be doing MTB for sport next term (Brendan) but I think Siobhan is going to do triathlon... I'm not actually sure I want her doing DH before we go to Canada, I've spent too much $$$$ for her to get an injury prior to departure. Silly thing is her worst crashes to date have been on the road:confused:

No you're not alone, thats me age wise!!!! Sounds great riding extinct volcanos, really interesting. Love unusual stuff!!

Hi mtbmamma,

Yeah it was was my first real stack on my 'Horse... but the Bluff is a steeper, more technical track and it was also very slippery conditions (unlike Marist where I normally ride) ... All my other stacks have been on my GT and on sandboards!

I'm hoping to meet the rest of the competing SA girls (all 3 or 4 of them i think  ) Wish there was a bigger following for it but I happily get along with the guys and I never have issues with our local boys. Everyone's pretty laid back here.

Mount Gambier forms part of the worlds 'crater lakes' regions... Where we have one extinct volcano full of bright blue water! There's also a swimming hole that has the same blue (called 'Little Blue' for obvious reasons)

If you've never been to this side of Oz its definitely worth a trip over and our local DH track is pretty cool too. The runs are not overly long, but if you're into xc there are heaps of longer trails to ride too.

Well, nice to meet you!

Hi. Name is Cindie, live in Doncaster, Vic and am 27. Have been floating around mtb for a few years now, although not much for the last couple of years, just sorta keeping an eye on the scene, without any involvement. Was a mod for this site when it first started up for a while, mostly to post Vic news. Used to be on FTF committee, me and my (non-riding) other half used to help out alot at all of the Fatties DH and 4X stuff. Broke my hand pretty badly though which halted riding and income for a while, so I sorted dropped away for a while. Still have alot of trouble with gripping bars etc.

Had a Craftworks dual when I used to race but converted the parts across to a Cove Stiffee SL after the dualie got damaged when I crashed. Don't ride it much at the mo, mostly cos I hate riding on my own, and don't know anyone who rides (although I am paying of a Norco for my hubby as a Bday pressie so will be riding again by October YAY!!!).
Current occupation(s): Mum to a 5yo girl, studying business degree, startiing a graduate traineeship as a project office consultant iin 2 weeks (so there goes all my time!!)

Anyway, its amazing how many girls there are out there these days!!! I'll have to try and stay a biit more active from now on!!!

Hey Cindy,

Sorry to hear about your injury :( I worry about seriously hurting myself when I ride - I rely on my fitness to be able to work as I'm self employed & have a business to run. Plus I'm getting OLD, LOL. Still, the thrill of flying down a hill outweighs the concern most of the time... I just have to be on the conservative side of gung ho!

Roxy! I'll spot you a mile away in that pink!!! Are you racing hard tail or dually? I'm pretty excited to meet a rider from Vic since the others will all be from Adelaide. This is going to be a great weekend I know it. Except my man won't be here to watch me race (he's offroad racing on 4 wheels somewhere near Port Pirie!)

I had the same kind of thing happen to me last year in november, cant use normal shifters anymore, nor open jars, or milk (my teath are going to be deastroyed) I think I was lucky my employer let me stay on while I could do basicaly nothing. Hand gets saw after a day of rideing and falling on it well thats some real pain!

Hey Cindy,

Welcome, sad to hear about the hand injury. Seems to be a not uncommon thing. My husband did the same thing skiing which put a real downer on his motorbike and mountain bike riding. I also did the same thing with my thumb. Takes ages to get over and makes mtbing quite uncomfortable at times.

Good luck and welcome. There is nothing wrong with 4 wheels, I love both, 4 and two wheels, especially love engines and two wheels. :D

If you are looking for people to ride with, specifically other girls, it'd be worth while having a chat to Tony at TC's at Taringa (shameless plug :o .) He organises rides to get girls out there to meet up etc and help them with their skills.

Hes just gone to the US for interbike but drop in in a few weeks if you're keen.

Welcome, I hope to hear more from you. We need more up and coming young girls. We have a couple of girls who race and are 12 and 15 so hopefully both you and your brother will join in and race some club races. Tell Mum and Dad what a great bunch we are, I am a Mum of a 14 year old boy who races and the boys and girls who race are great as are the parents. Everyone is friendly.

I am quiet introverted extrovert thats been having the odd midnight ramble on this website on here for a the last couple of years or so. I am 27 going on 17. I do quality control for a living - if you get a pre-employment medical done to work on a mine, I might be proof-reading it! I also have an excitable 7 year old girl living with me. I have two ever-suffering bikes - a 2001 giant xtc team and a neglected intense 5.5. Who wants its front wheel rebuilt, dammit.

As for riding a bike, I have been trying to do that since 2003.
I actually love riding. Its a form of amusement, my meditation and an everlasting challenge. I love the geek factor. I love the brawn.

I have dabbled a bit in racing and learnt many lessons about trying to race 4x on your cross country bike with your seat up and having all the dh boys and their trophy g/f's laugh their arses off at me. I have done "training" for a 100km cross country stage race by partying my arse off with Chivas Regal in Edinburgh for six weeks. I now know what hypernatremia really is! (yes lets all ride 100km offroad on a hot day in SW Australia and puke all over the place!)
But I am a shy girl and I can feel out of sorts at races. I ride much more comfortably with chummy friendly types, but I like to go back to racing next season.

I ride my bike to and from work. I am scary behind the wheel of a car, and from what I can tell from commuting on the bike, some other people should not be trusted driving a car either! Maybe my big scary dance with danger to and from work 5 days a week will fine tune some reflexes making more suitable on a down hill track? I do hope so. The regular riding allows me to have the pleasure of eating generous servings of birthday cake in front of my colleagues at the office!

I went to CORC a couple of years ago, funny little camp that was. I would like to go to Thredbo girly weekend next year. So I might see some internet names in Thredbooo around February?

Hey schmook,

Welcome,

I am 49 going on 29 so I know the feeling. I live with a 14 year old boy, going on 39. Hey keeps me in check, god forbid!!!! Takes a lot I can tell you!!! I have three bikes, one boulevardier with mudguards, one $300 cheapie that all the dh boys love, cause of its cushy seat and stuff and one serious Cannondale Prophet 600, a real sweetie of a bike that forgives me all my faults. I too am scary behind the wheel of a car but I just love speed in any form, hence a real love of Top Gear on TV!!!

Where are you located? Would love to see you at one of the womens camps.

Hey inko,

I'm also in Brisbane and looking for some more people to ride with. I generally ride at Gap Creek or Daisy Hill. Both have everything ranging from beginners to some pretty sweet DH (although still yet to try the ones at Gap creek). I ride pretty much every Sunday with a mate, you are more then welcome to join us, only condition - your not allowed to leave me too far behind on the up hills!!!

PM me mate. I would say you could join us to Tu Plang, but you would be too quick and put me to shame.

i like to drive and i love to drive very fast.. its a shame those white and blue cars dont agree with me... or the trees on the side of the road. Actually trees hate me, they jump out in front of my bike all the time!

I got given this rally day in wrxie for my birthday. its gunna be ace! wooooooo

Well I suppose I had better introduce myself, being a lass and all.

My name is Fi (not to be mistaken for the other Fi on here), I'm 23, live in SE Melbourne 'burbs, ride an extra small GT avalanche (cheap I know but I'm too small to break things so it's worked well for me the last few years), I ride mainly road - on an mtb - but try and get out on the trails occassionally...my money making job is being in front of a computer all day typing in barcodes and talking to grumpy people, the worthwhile job is fixing friends bikes on weekends for beer!
As I said, I'm small - 5'1" to be exact so it is really difficult to find bikes and gear in my size. The worst is helmets because I have such a pin-head, the best size for me is small kiddies - which is fine if I want Winnie the Pooh graphics...

It's good to see so many gals on the forum and read each person's story.

Hey Fi,

Good to see yet another girl on Farkin. I am just so pleased to see so many girls emerge from the shadows. Yep, finding stuff small enough for girls is a prob and I'm 5'5" though I have fairly small feet and hands so I know some of your probs.

Hi I'm Jody, 22, I live in Northern Tasmania. I have posted before on Farkin using by bf user name, but he wasn't very impressed  .... I mostly ride xc (and all day epic rides, have enjoyed touring and also commute on a roady). Recently moved (bought) house and now I don't have trails 1km from my back door :( , but I do have an assume estuary to sail on :) , and some really nice road riding (but it's not the same). I have been riding for about 2 years. Also I'm very short and have trouble finding bikes small enough  I have a Raceline Team (hardtail) and a Raceline Giro (roady), am looking to buy a dually at the end of the year (probably a Giant Anthem).

I have just finished a science degree and work as a GIS Officer at a Local Council (in short I make maps :) ), about to start an honors year (just to keep myself busy).

Hi Im Kay

Im 24 from Dunedin NZ

Riddin for a few years now although I broke a leg earlier this year n spent 6 months off the bikes

I own a few bike but my DH rig is a specialised bighit which may soon be replaced, I have a Santa cruz bullet as my all day ride terrian bike and a Trek 6700wsd as my HT also a commuter bike as well n a few others floating round

Im into DH, and jumps mainly I love getting air but some of the freeride stuff scares me a lil but hey u get that

I hate lycra and refuse to wear anything except my shorts undre my baggies, just found some decent cheapish womens specific baggies with inserts so the lycra may become redundant
Im a student Im studying occupational therapy and have almost finished another science degree in anatomy and physiology (i de-stress by riddin lots)

Hi girls!

So good to see so many more girls here these days! I've had almost a year's hiatus from Farkin (lots going on!) and it's great to come back and see that we've now got our own space to chat!

about me...

name: Emma Ringer

age:25

location: Adelaide, previously from the 'Gong (Wollongong)

riding since: around 2000, started on road, then added track, then a some XC, and since a week ago DH!! Very stoked about that.

bikes: road - custom Hillbrick (I think there's a picture of it around on these forums somewhere!) and until recently, a Specialized Ruby (full carbon wmns design); track - Avanti Pista Pro; city/commuter - SUBlime.2; XC - Stumpjumper '05; DH - Specialized SX1 06

ride: still getting to know the (legal) trails around here. Rode at Fox Creek / Cudlee Creek for my first DH outing, and have ridden at Eagle MTB Park. The more bikes I've added to my collection the less time I have to ride them. It makes me cry :(

How rude, I started posting before introducing myself!

Hi all, I'm Pip.

I'm from sunny Brisbane, and currently spend most of my daylight hours out at UQ struggling to finish my PhD (virology).

I ride a Norco 4by as a commuter, XC and DH when I can. Been riding about 3 years now and slowly getting better...

Hopefully catch up with a few of the Brissy girls around the trails...if anyone is going to this Sundays Intermediate RAW session with Roadie Rob I'll see you there!

Hello ladies!

Great to see that there ARE so many other girls out there riding! Just found your site last weekend...

name: Carolin Skipka
Age: 32
bike: Cell Crosscountry MTX R (hardtail)
profession: pharmacy tech

Used to ride when I was living Europe (before 2003) and only started riding again regularly a few months ago.
Preferred style: I guess XC is what I am doing here at the moment also love technical stuff around the city -not that I am much good at it but love it anyway:) !!-

Am riding mostly in Manly and Engadine at the moment and would love to give racing a go! Any suggestions on which races are good to start with. Am trying to get my head around the whole palaver of nationals, club races, endurance, 12hrs..... Would be great to hear about some of your fabulous experiences :) !!

Cheers

Hey Caro

I'm on the Northern Beaches and ride regularly, give me a shout if you're over this way! And I often ride up at Wisemans Ferry, Blue Mtns, etc. - you're welcome to come along anytime. Haven't ridden much at Engadine so would enjoy a guided tour sometime!

As for racing, well I reckon that endurance (12hr, 8hr, etc.) is a great way of getting into it - less painful than XC and less intimidating than DH (not that I don't recommend these disciplines too!). And there are the short track races too happening through the summer, I don't know where the next one is happening but there's a bit of info on the event format at www.mwmtb.com.

Cheers

Hi from another girlie noob

I've been riding xc for a bit (just started enduro racing with friends) and want to extend my skills a bit so I'll crash less (or will that just be crashing at a higher speed??). I'd really appreciate any info on XC coaching sessions, particularly those for women.

thanks

Hi Girls!

I’m new to this mtb fun too!

I’ve just bought an 07 Cannondale Rush Femme, well actually it is in the shop waiting for me to pick it up this weekend!

I currently do motorcycle road racing and motocross, so I’m hoping that I can carry some sort of ability across to mtb???
Haven’t ridden a mtb before but looks like super trick fun!

I’m in Brisvegas. Any suggestions from the local girls on where the good riding is?

Cheers! ;)

Hi all,
I have just discovered this forum thanks to some help from a bike shop in manly. Thought I had better introduce myself. I live in the inner west in Sydney, so not the best for off road riding, but I plan to fix that. I have been on a bike since I was four years old, only had the training wheels for an hour. I haven't managed to grow out of it since...not that I want to.

I bought my first mountain bike in 1988...back in the days before suspension was affordable and I have to say, my little Toyworld Trail Blazer lasted well and I used to punish it, living on the South Coast at the time, so there were plenty of trails back then.

Other interests include Doctor Who (I know, I know, I'm a bit of a nerd), soccer, writing, riding...mostly riding :)

Anyway, that's me,

Ace1

Well I've just managed to grab enough time to finally sit down and have a read. Great to see so many girls out there. I'm relative new to MTBing and started riding with my other half and a couple of his mates. Would love to catch up with the girls some time. Here's a bit about me.

Name: Dani
Age: 36 (don't let the age fool you...)

Location: Sydney
Riding Since: Last year and half or so. Would like to make more time and get a little more serious.

Bike: Giant Reign 2 (last 10 months) prior to that some little suspension number that was given to me by a friend that my boy did up for me. Turned out to be not a bad ride though to get me started. However I just love my Reign :D and my poor other bike is collecting dust in the corner.

Ride: So far usually Manly Dam, Blue Mountains, Ourimbah etc.
Style: None yet but I like going down hill really, really fast! Am partial to good stretches of singletrack also.

Day Job: Corporate Audio Visual
Life Philosophy: "Because I can..."

Anyway, if anybody is interested I would be really interested in meeting up for rides in Sydney based area. Can travel to outer Sydney area areas also.

:)

Cool, I haven't ridden any of the Adelaide tracks yet, I heard Fox was pretty good. I just haven't had any free time to go anywhere really - work is keeping me very busy. Except for the weekly Dh session & riding to work a few times a week (trying to keep fit, LMAO) Not sure if there's going to be a Mt Gambier race this year.... depends on the new crew that are organizing & building (re-building) the track. Hope so! I'll probably be helping them out at this years event if it does go ahead (& practicing more of that damn crazy Bluff track!) Oh, and my shoulder is still not healed properly :( Kinda limits some stuff I do :( :( Wahh, but its slowly coming good :) Hope to catch up with you again soon!

Hey Roxy and MTB Chik

We have just got word that Inside line have put in in an order for timing boards. whohoo:)

http://www.ilmtb.com/site/

So you will both have to come over for a race!

Fox Steep is my favourite as its normally pouring with rain and heaps slippery. :) baaarpt!

But Fox long is also good fun and so is Eagle Quarry.

Leese, did you race at Mt Stromlo when the National Champs were there?

You crazy nutter :D

Yeah I saw that the club has got timing boards now, how cool! No more wondering how slow I went, hehe...

Maybe I'm getting premonitions about racing, but I had this weird dream this morning that I was at the Bluff DH race & you were there but I couldn't find any of my racing gear & I had to borrow Roxys which was ALL pink!! I think I have pink phobia... because I refused to wear it and instead went home to find my own gear but then I was too late & missed my run. Stupid dreams! Or maybe I'm just a mental

Oh Julie! My "bro in law" is the one that bought your old Bullit! He's loving it :) but had to replace a few things ( i think he just likes to spend money) I've got him addicted to downhill <insert evil laugh>

Hope to see you all soon :)

Nah didn't race. I got my wisdom teeth out the day before so wasn't feeling too flash. I went and watched though. Awesome stuff. It was really hot and windy so I think it would have been tough riding the XC. The downhill was a whole different story. Still windy and dusty but boy is there some big jumps out there......

Hey all,

Just wanted to introduce myself,
Name: Rach
Age: 26
Location: Sydney
Riding since: October 2006
Bike: Gary Fisher Marlin GS
Next Bike: upgrades on the Marlin so it doesnt weigh so damn much
Ride: I loved loftus a couple of weeks ago and the oaks is fun, in january i rode across Tassie, from Launceston to Hobart on the Tasmanian Trail. Anyone else ridden it? Its mostly offroad with some scary bits on road trying to avoid the logging trucks.
Day job: Studying Geography at Sydney Uni, musician....

Im gonna go in the 24hr race, solo, in October so I'll be riding every weekend and some Fridays as well until then. I'd be heaps keen to find other chicks to go riding with because my boyfriend can be a bit of a dick when im not keeping up with him and the bike club im in (sydney uni bike society) is mostly guys.......So if you're in the Sydney or Wollongong area and you want to go riding, hit me up. I'm planning to do loftus on Friday and maybe the Oaks (again) on Saturday this week.

re. Roxy's respect

Yeah, its not like im any good or anything though(!), basically i wanted to get fitter and lose a bit of weight so i started getting into some more sport and tried mtb and discovered that i love it.

And i figured, f**k trying to lose weight, thats dull. So instead I thought it'd be much better to have a crazy goal and the 24hr solo kinda got my attention when i was at the scott last year (not riding, but doing support crew for some riders).

So yeah, im training as much as i can - I wish i could ride more but living in the city its a long train ride away so im confined to the exercise bike every day i cant get out on the trail.

Ok cool. My partners from NZ so he knew where to go.
We went riding all around the South Island.... Queenstown seven mile tracks, Wanaka sticky forest tracks, Blackball (can't remember track name), a few Christchurch tracks, some tracks at Hamner and a few others here and there... it was unreal. Must say Coronet was my favourite.... Have you riden there? Want to go to Canada now...
Yes can't wait to get a bullit... I've hear they are really good...

Hey Rach

Awesome on the goal to do the 24hr solo, just a bit of advice make sure you get used to riding uphill as Stromlo can be hard work otherwise as there is a lot of climbing.

Good luck with your training :)

thanks Leese,

Yeah im planning to do a lot of climbing practice, although i find that a bit easier than some of the more technical downhill stuff - my switchback riding is pretty slow.

Actually im coming down to canberra the weekend of the 13th to ride stromlo and maybe ride around last years track at kowen too if anyone is keen for a girls ride?

im interested to know if any girls on here do events like the 24hr and how often they ride to train for it?

At the moment im only riding in the mountains once a week, with trips to the gym about 4 days a week......

Yeah, I'd be up for a girls ride that weekend, Friday afternoon or Sunday.

I haven't done a 24hr solo but I have done an ironman triathlon. I used to ride 3 times a week which included 2x 2hr rides and 1 long ride starting from 3hrs building up to 6hrs on the road bike. I'm sure its a bit different for mtbing though. Oh yeah I almost forgot, I had to buy a really really good saddle too.

There is an article in the lastest Australian Mountain Bike magazine about training for 100km races which might give you some tips on training. This website article also has a training plan which might be useful http://www.bicycling.com/article/1,6610,s1-4-41-15022-3,00.html

I guess the next most important thing that I found training was working out a suitable eating plan for the duration of the race. Best to try different things while you are out riding that way you are not experimenting in the race.

Cheers
Leese

I recently did a 12hr solo and I am planning on doing a 24hr solo in about 3 weeks!! Crazy I know!!

I haven’t done much specific training but I like to ride a lot !! I have done a bit of cycle touring and long epic rides in the bush, so the distances and time did not worry me (for the 12hr, I'm not sure about 24hrs I think that the night will be very loney!)!! One thing that I would suggest would be to practice eating while you are riding and find the food that suits you best. Try to work up to long rides and practice changing your hand grips and moving around the bike (bar ends are good), it helps when everything is very sore! Oh make sure you get lots of good sleep before the race!!

Good support crew is critical!!

24 hour solo... I can barely stay awake for 24 hours doing nothing let alone riding a bike along single track and up hills during that time. Much respect to you girls!!!!

Hey, good luck with the 12 hr. how much do you ride on average? The tip about moving around is a good one. What food do you eat when training? Any recommendations?

I don't get to ride as much as I would like :( but on average I ride between 100 and 200km a week. I try to ride as much during the week and than go for a long ride on the weekend 4-5hrs (but that does not always go according to plan. I mostly eat power bars while I am riding (they seem to be very effective, I am not much of a fan of gels). When I did the 12hr I ate vegemite and cheese sandwiches (they were brilliant), fruit (bananas are really hard to eat while you are riding, apples were good but took a while to eat, someone gave me some watermelon on my second last lap which was a highlight - I did have to stop to eat it though), power bars, and the occasional lolly (lots of lollies on my last lap). I also had some flat coke on hand if I got tied (but I didn't need it).

Recommendations, just get out there and have a go, you never know what you can do.

On second thought I do have one tip (I learnt this one from the 12hr) don’t consume copious amounts of alcohol upon finishing because ultimately you pay for it (I might have drunk a whole bottle of wine and stayed up until 4am in the morning!!)!!!

It is nice to hear that there are some girls in Farkin that don’t ride downhill (I don’t really have the balls for that stuff)

Hi all, I am new to these parts (eg this forum).

Bit of a XCwannabe - came from riding skinny tyres on blackstuff and wearing lyrca (which I still do can't break the habit) so I tend to look at the rocks too much and scare easily. Might have something to do with my "mature" age also ... ;)

Nice to hear that you in the Eastern states have lots of enduro events, which are a bit thin on the ground in SA despite the fact that we have a very healthy MTB scene here. There is a market to be tapped here, given the popularity of the enduro events over east.

keep the rubber side down.

Hi Binga

Don't worry about that lycra (it does have a place...I like my bottom!!). Rocks are good!!

Hey some of us in the 'Eastern States' - ie Tassie - don't have that many enduro events (three major ones to name at the moment, one which is still yet to be held for the first time!!). Enduro events are great fun...lots of socializing (if you are riding in a team!!) and great people!!

My names Lea. Im 25 and i live in Brisbane. I've ridden in NZ and just resently i came back from Whistler. Have had 5mths of no riding due to living in the snow so i am a bit of a crazy rider right now. I had no idea so many girls rode in Brisbane its awesome. I love to practise on BMX tracks and DJ. But I dont find myself getting very ampted riding alone all the time. Does anyone think they might like to practise skills sometime or go shuttling. Its all for fun, skill level doesnt matter to me.

Hi, I'm Jill from Tassie. Just getting into downhill because my son looked like he was having too much fun doin it. I just bought my first full face helmet and I ride whichever of my son's bikes that he's not riding at the time which usually means I get the hardtail.
My age....46 (true) I'd like to know how many other 40 something yr old women there are out there who are crazy enough to think flying down a moutain over rocks and logs is fun. If there are any other crazy old ladies out there, let me know...:D seriously

Hi There!

I have never used forums on the net before so I hope it all goes well!

I'm Belinda, 31 (2 days ago), have been riding since 1998 or thereabouts. Live in Newcastle NSW and just started a job closer to home which allows me to ride before/after work rather than sitting on a train for 2 hrs.
Fave trails are Glenrock, Killy, Ourimbah and anything up the Watagan mountains.
Bike is a Raceline Comp and a dusty DH bike that I can't remember the name of its been so long since I've ridden it!
I used to ride a lot and race for the social side of it, but have not so much recently due to aforementioned job.
Looking forward to getting back out there!
