Hey guys, I know a few of us here race, and are looking to get into racing... Anyways I was just wondering what you guys thought of a Farkin.net XC "team"..not really a team but more of a promotional/free advertising type thingy... Basicly, we all have farkin.net jersey's, baggy ones, not gay roady style ones :P, ware em to races and shit, to get farkin.net even more well known  ....and post up our results, reports and stuff here (somewhere).

Sound good or gay? Feel free to add stuff, make coments/ideas etc....Appoligies if it sounds stupid, I was bored at work today :P Just an idea, all it is!

nah thats bs.. xc can be exciting just like road (no i'm not being a smart ass). i don't care what discipline i'm doing as long as it has two wheels or pedals. why bother reading the xc forum if ur just gonna post bullshit like that?

Toooo Right iLikeBasS! "We dont takes too kindly to your kind round here", Psycodh ... If your going to rag shit on riding, go find another forum, dont bother us with your bullshit.

XC is just as exciting as DH, DS, 4X and even FR, where elce can you ride exciting courses for hours on end, and not have to worry bout walking back up every 3.5minutes???... I think you should stop raging out something you know little about!

God forbid you actually have to RIDE your bike instead of pilot it psycodh.

The great Vic Bike Ride isn't XC btw, it's a road ride... hence all the people you see on road bikes doing it. I agree that road riding can be boring, but there's something to be said about pedalling yourself 100k's without stopping and thinking... "man, I just rode my bike to Geelong!".

I'm all for Farkin Jerseys though! Great idea... as long as they're good for riding in, otherwise there's no point.

as a farkin boring xc enthusiast who rides like a girl i'd love to have a nice little farkin sticker to put next to my extremely yawn worthy suicidegirls sticker.
i had a p2 but its gone now because i needed cash for my new laptop. so someone shoot me for commiting such a sacreligious act.
the xc jerseys are a good idea too because xcc lothing uses less material than dh fashion counterparts, because cx riders arn't as fat as downhillers!

j/k

dh, cx, dj, fr, 4x or whatever initials you can throw together is all good. really.
do you need to be closer to 25 than 15 to come to this realisation?
the schism aint good people.

I sorta like doing xc on my norco one25.. would singletrack or anything off road considered XC? cos i find it awesome.

where are some good xc stuff around melbourne? not too far away.

Try the You Yangs... plenty of fun singletrack there.

If you're up for a big day you can catch the train to Little River and ride from there. PM if you want some directions on where to find the legal areas... it's $100 on the spot fine if the ranger catches you anywhere else.

robets, a local rider up here used to do xc circuts on his v10, that was unreal to watch. damn maniac if you ask me! but xc sight seeing is way better than dh sightseeing. you actaully get to enjoy the view rather than being worried or getting pumped about what your about to do. if anyone wants to give me a free xc bike i will be out there every weekend! whats that no offers???? its alright guys. i can always ride my pretend xc bike! it would be great to see team farkin at the 24 hour race! yous could have a brawl with team LEARSPORT!!!! hahaha. (thinks to self of xc people beating eachother)
good idea guys! get it going!!!

I think Farkin merhcandise of any sort would rock! But would people buy it? I think it depends on price.

SO what am I trying to say. Well I like Farkin, and I like riding in comfy clothing, but I hate the average price you pay at a bike store for clothing ($50-130 per item)......My whole range of riding shirts cost me $6 each from a second hand clothing store.

If I could by Farkin Riding Cloth for about $25-$50 I would! Depending on overall design features, quality and design......

Oh yeah, and about the 'team', if I met the standard that would probably lift the spirit of riding a bike to new heights.....or something like that. Teams are generally a good way to improve peoples quality at a competitve level as it encourages a serious approach to the sport, and probably some kind of rider training and development.

im in :P love the idea i like doing xc as well as freeriding as its where i started riding im getting a freeride bike but im going to race xc on it anyway. we need to get all the xcers on farkin involved in this even the trail riders as they still get seen, such as the mundda biddi trail over here you get seen by many fellow mtbers dont leave them out

Anyone doing the Kona 12 hr and 24 hr races?
I like the idea of a farkin team, but i think it would be difficult to just sign up a team with strangers, better i reckon if people go in teams with people they know, and just meet up at the events.
That way you can really get to know these 'faceless' farkin members, so you can go in teams in the future.
well, thats what i think......

Did any Farkin members do the 12 hours of Darkness???

And are any of you going to do the Sydney 24 hour/12 hours of Daylight????

Yeah I did the 12hrs of Darkness............

It was fucking nuts! I've never done an XC, Enduro or Night race before!!

I tell you doing 58.7km\h in the dark down a hill is seriously exciting!!

Check the 12 Hours of darkness thread tomorrow and I should have posted a full report.............

Although this is an old thread...
I reckon it would be a really good idea. Spectators will see the team dressed in Farkin.net apparel and of course will go home and check it out on the www.

It also creates more of a wider variety of members from more fascites of mountain biking. XC after all is only a couple of inches different to DH... front and back of course.

LordNikon

There's also a lot of people who do both, DH and XC.

As I've said previously in this thread I'd definitely be up for wearing Farkin.net colours on the race track.

But if the jerseys are cheap and nasty I probably wouldn't buy them. $25 - $50 for proper riding jerseys is unreallistic IMHO. I pay $100 each, or thereabouts, for them now, so I'd be prepared to pay that much for a Farkin one.

I'll make some enquries and see if I can get some prices.

Rexy

dont make them too expensive or less people will buy them as for some people 100 bucks is a decent amount of money, especially for young people like me
