Gday fellas,
im following the crowds and looking at getting a bmx for the smaller of the skate parks that my stp doesnt fit on, and the fact that i want to learn to grind on pegs and i dont see any pegs being put on my stp in the near future.
Been looking at the norco range of bmx's and was just after some opinions.
Cheers, Alan.

yay, i havent look at the prices but ive got a norco speed metal and its mad i got it bran new for $350 with 2years warranty.
i'd have to say nay.
currently riding a devient. well, its all upgraded except seat and cranks, but still a nay from me. cassette hubs are hel shit and unsealed. like who the fuck makes unsealed hubs. cranks always have shit in them, and make funny noises, but they're still ok. shit stems. shit bars. huge long axels on them. this refers to pretty much all the norco range

yes but norco's race bmx's are very diferent to their street/park orrientated bikes. unfortunantly norco's street/park bmx's are not a standard of their race bikes and from what i have learnt first-hand experience their normally very heavy and not worth the money.
go a fit team or a hoffman rythm il1

orr.....
with $700 you could buy my 2005 Norco 250 frame. and a new rear hub (14mm) and whack on some pegs on that. plus have more money for small upgrades aswell..
frame was practically made for grinding - has gussets all along the rear triangle.
Just a thought
plus getting used to riding a small bike gets kind of annoying.. and switching forwards and backwards.. just stick to the one bike :)

Ive made up my mind.
Im gonna get the Deviant, for $400 brand new, i dont think i can go wrong.
Ive also ordered a odysee brake with some kool stop pads, and a odysee linear cable so it shouldnt have any dramas stopping where i need it to.
i wuold strongly recommend you DO NOT BUY A DEVIANT!!!
headset fucked. bars bent. cassette and hub are possible the shittest cassette hub ever. BB makes fucked up noises 24/7. and what did i discover today? THE FRAME WAS CRACKED:mad:
yep. a deviant piece of shit cracked. because they're such a shit bike, i'd stay well away.
NORCO BMX = SHIT
the end.

If you dont take care of your bike, or buy something that is not equipped for yout style of riding (i.e. cheapskate!!) then you will have problems.
From my experience (sales/repairs in a bikeshop) the Norco BMXers are excellent in both durability and value. As long as you IMMEDIATELY fix up anything that is loose or makes funny noises (that common sense isn't it?) you shouldn't have any dramas with a Norco. To the poster above, I'm quite surpised to hear such problems with a Norco! I highly recommend Norco BMXers, the 07 range looks awesome.

Got the bike on thursday, improved the brakes on friday, rode all day saturday. No dramas at all, and man its alot of fun on the smaller bike!
Everything has held up well so far, and i did punish the bike a fair bit yesterday too!!! Just had to do the usual tighten here and there.
Im happy with the Norco purchase.

im not normally a norco person but the new 07 gear they have bought out is the looks of the pack at the moment. i haven't seen many other set up's that looks so good, with a great spec, and at a great price. the a line series amazed me. the dh rig seemed a lil over priced compared to their others, but still very nice all the same. well done fella's

exactly. your headset shall go first, then your driver

Jesus.
the norco deviant is designed as an entry level bmx. it is an entry level frame, constructed out of 4130 and hi-ten. it is not designed to be flipped and used by the harder rider(ie. you). its the same as me getting on a huffy and whinging why it wont make it down the bottom of a dh run.
saying this they are a great bike( i should know, i own one), but they arent designed for what you do to it, so dont be a little bitch and whinge when you break it. pull ya head in mate
Edit: yes i own one and i have only broken one thing, a seatclamp due to overtightening. i have upgraded many things, but not broken anything. some things may not run as smoothly as they should(eg hubs, but they are not broken. - ive upgraded hubs anyway..) but as long as you look after them and maintain them they should be fine. my bars havent bent, and are now on their second owner(my mate) and are still going strong. my cranks creak occasionally(which cranks dont) but after a quick pull apart and regrease they are fine. as for my headset..yes it isnt high quality and mine is on its way out(after 8 months of use) but pay careful attention to it and it should last. ill admit the stock tyres were complete shit but most people upgrade tyres anyway. oh and the axles...too long? cut em down.

yeah but i wasnt the only one to have these problem. even little kids who can only jump the spine get these problems too. and theyre the second highest norco bmx, so that wouldnt make them the entry one...would it?

Archi makes good sense with his post.
If you are going to spend $550 on a new BMX, the Norco Devient is a great package.
If you are going to abuse the hell out of your bike and throw it around a lot, spend 3 of 4 times as much setting up a custom bike. I doubt you'll break it.
You can't expect to buy a sub $600 bike and thrash the guts out of it without any problems.
Grow some common sense already you guys!

i have had a norco rythem 05 for a year and a bit.. i dont ride to hard i just ride at skate parks mabye 2 times a month, both my rims are f'd!@ and my freewheel is completly gutted.. it doesnt work at all.. i dont like it.. the brakes are crp'y and yea. just not a good quality bike at all.. id advise a wethepeople :D:D lol if u got that much money, but yea, go specialized

Specialized_lukesta has hit the nail on the head. there is no use in buying a bike that may be ok it is much wiser buying a beter bike like wethepeople, fuse etc and not having to deal with those problems. save up a little more and buy a higher quality bike.
