just out of curiousity, what do you peeps think is a good 4 + 4 inch dually for less than $2500 2nd hand? i would use it primarily for xc/trailriding and some dh. the hardtail is starting to feel a smidgen too "bumpy" for my liking and i am planning to upgrade sometime early next year.

if you can find a norco 4x4 i reckon theyre a pretty well balanced bike. Perfectly capable of dh and JustRide, and good for xc trail riding (just dont expect to win any races except 4x on it)

The Norco 4 by 4 would be pretty good for what you wont about 4-5inch front and 3.5 inch rear. Retailed for $3000 so you should be able to pick one up 2nd hand for about $2300 - $2500. (2002 MODEL)

Have a look at a 2nd hand kona Bear aswell, xc/dual bike

The 4x4 is a short-arse slalom bike with heavy, burly components. The cockpit is short, the stem is short, the standover is low, and they're heavy. They really aren't XC bikes!

I reckon what you're after is a Specialized Enduro (Comp model probably). They retail for a bit over $3000, so I think you should be able to pick up a 2nd hand one for around $2000.

The problem with buying 2nd hand, is that you don't really have a choice of what you buy... it's either "yes" or "no" with each bike; you can't really choose beforehand (unless it's a specific, relatively easy-to-find bike like an M1 or something).

At $2500, you could get a decent duallie new. I got my 2002 Norco Atomik for $2300, and I know a guy who got an 03 Atomik for $2200 (and they retailed for $2800 compared to the 02 model's $2500rrp). Maybe a Giant XTC NRS3 (new) or NRS2 (2nd hand) would fit the bill too, they pedal insanely well.

I might be ordering a Da Bomb Cherry Bomb ,
They have 3.5" - 5.5" adjustable on the back.

They look pretty cool .. im considering getting a frame.

you could try one of the norco fluids - i hear they aren't to bad for xc/justride but i dunno about dh. apparently the new giant vt series ain't bad either but not sure about the price.

If you are able to wait till about September to upgrade check out the Giant VT... I've read some reviews and sounds like just the thing. Its been called a cross between the AC and the NRS... Sounds like a sweeeet ride.

Just wondering what size frame you are looking for?

i guess i'll be after a "large" size frame - i'm 6ft and my hardtail can sometimes feel a little cramped. i'm a bit weight conscious too, so i don't want a heavy beast. the giant vt looks pretty damn sweet, and looks like it would take a hell of a beating but.......i'm still thinking of a jekyll. the only way i'd be able to afford a jekyll is second hand, but that doesn't particularly bother me.
