most race hubs come with larger rear cogs but why would you need a small sprocket for racing anyway? or any type of riding appart from park or street?

The Elf is a very out of date bmx mini racer (sprockets bike). Anyone over the age of 8 could break it so i wouldn’t be surprised if it weight shit all but I still think 4kg was an exaggeration....

shmeado

seriously... for it to weigh 4 kgs it would have to be made out of very weak ti parts... even then 4kgs is a bit too light for a bmx of that size.

20.75, I guess it is easy to move around. its my 2nd bmx, the first was a dragonfly moto which I had for 4 weeks before I got this frame. it is a bit shit how the cable ends that far up. like it makes alot of flex so the straddle could hit the frame and made alot of noise. but with flybrakes its fine. but I guess its so far up as its made to run the london mod where 2 cables run down and has an adapter where the outter has to end. and its up so far to save a bit of outter length (weight)

Nice Dale, but about that 'both 14mm Ti axles comment', Is your Nankai hubs' axle actually 14mm or just a 3/8" with 14mm adapter? Because from what i have read, Nankai only make hubs to go with 3/8" axles, then if you need 14mm they provide adapters?

Looks sick though.

if you flattern the springs so there is more pressure on the axle it will catch heaps well..
I run heaps of slack in mine so it never engages all you need to do to ajust the slack is bend one of the leaf springs so its not as tight..
Hope that helps :)

Haven't checked this thread for yonks, gotta defend the old girl;)

The Elf is a very out of date bmx mini racer (sprockets bike). Anyone over the age of 8 could break it so i wouldn’t be surprised if it weight shit all but I still think 4kg was an exaggeration....

I've been out of the BMX loop for ages, why is it out of date? My bike won the 13 years Australian Championships, and it didn't break...

What size is your elf (EXTRA LIGHT FRAME) my mate had a junior-expert, it was weightless, the velocity rims weight next to nothing i had them on my race bike. I belivie him

It's an expert. I'm not lying, I definelty remember it being 4kg.

If thats your race bike why are you running such small gearing? coz big sprockets look shit in my opinion. i think 25-9 is the best thing since sliced bread lol & i like the gear ratio
+it saves a little weight..

I was building myself up a new race bike.. & i get stuff wholesale, i thought i would give it a go to see how it would hold up to racing.. im pretty sure im the only person in QLD racing on 25-9.. i went the the aussie titles & not a single person had the gearing , which i found surprising..

ive had it for like 2 years. with no problems whatsoever..
i always get people telling me there theory on the gearing, telling me i will snap chains & wear out sprockets & wear out the 9tooth itself.. & saying its not safe.. & it will affect my pedaling. bollocks! to the haters i say. lol.
im the one riding the bike! not them. i trust it %100.. they have no hard evidence at all & not a leg to stand on..
sadly i am getting rid of the 25-9.. coz im putting dura-ace cranks on it & the smallest they fit is 39.
i wanna see how the road bike cranks hold up LOL

If you cracked a Norco and a Kink, IMO you shouldn't get an S3, they probably couldn't take the abuse that you give your bikes (not to be offensive). I read a thread on another website asking if the S3 would hold up for dj, and most people said that it wouldn't, as it is a very lightweight frame and isn't quite as strong. I know Aitken does massive jumps on his, but he is extremely smooth. Anyway its just my opinion.

yeah, i kinda turned away from that idea. i'll just get something under 6lbs that can take a beating.

and for those saying flyouts, fuck you. that was one skatepark where the only things you can do are flyouts. i can't flair back into a quater pipe, and i cant flip a spine.

I dont mean to be a dick, but most posts you make involve a 'look at me i can do backies' remark of some kind. it looks like your trying to rub your "skills" in peoples faces. Hence - the flyout remarks.

Oh, and surely if there is a spine at a skatepark, you can just do something else on it? is it mandatory to backie every session? man up.

havent tried below 30t but there is still a bit of room i wouldnt want to go below 27-28t cause you would have to run a decent amount of tension to avoid chain slapage..but im not a fan of the tiny gearing so its perfect for us

well well well...it's a bike that has been around for years, can't remember exactly how i tackled it first, but it is and old repco frame that has had things stolen off other of MY bmx bikes and tacked on....
i would venture 5 or 6 different paint jobs over the last 2 or 3 years, never stipping it back or any of that rubbish:D chickenfeed spray paint the whole way... the wheels are buckled, it creaks and moans, wouldn't be supprised if there are cracks developing, the cromo cranks are bent to buggery, and it still handles well.+ it is light as, eventhough i never meant it to be.

specs:
frame: repco 8 to 10 years old...bloody light!
bars: off another bike. noname repco maybe cut down too much:p
wheels: BENT
tyres:(f) maxxis max daddy
(r) Kenda Kovert
stem: custom machined thingo from mate who has machine?!?
pedals: plastic never broken in 3 years
chain: original since birth..no joining link...never been off frame
seat: uncomfortable. pinches well.
post: metal?!?!?!
brakes: ........backpedal...but if you go back a quater of a revolution then it is a freecoaster!? funn.
grips: good.
cranks: crom-oly..B E N T.
sprocket: oddysey 44t utility sprocket...free from mate.

sorry there aren't really any brand names, they would prorably be repco, but have been sprayed over, replaced or broken:cool:

Trailst4r

i took my old ody aitken seat, removed the cover and the foam. then you get a black piece of plastik. Either you take that little piece of plastic as your seat or you make a new cover over it. I wanted a white saddle so i took an old white t-shirt an covered the saddle with it.
