hey all im about 6'2" and 85kg and im after a trials bike. ive been told that a raceline rhino or monty alp (cheaper end of the market bikes) are more for smaller kids...
My question is, how big are you and how much thrashing has your cheap trials bike taken without snapping etc?
I'm 6'2 and 75kg
I didn't break my (2001/2? -the white one) 20in rhino frame after two years. I did break the bars, bb, numerous pedals and 3 rear hubs though. If I were starting out I'd still buy another one. I think the monty's can be had much cheaper (I paid 800 for my rhino, Xalps something like 400-600) and are great beginner bikes. I'm not actually sure whether raceline is still selling rhinos.

im 85kg and and it took 2years to crack the headtube on my rhino frame. they are a good beginners bike and will handle a fair amount of trials abuse if you upgrade a few parts. the stock bars break very easy
My suggestion would be for a second hand bike. You are likely to get a good mid range trials bike with sturdy parts for about the same amount as a rhino new.
www.observedtrials.net for sale section has some amazing deals sometimes. Even with shipping and the US dollar.
See what you think and feel free to keep asking questions :)

to be honest, a cheaper bike such as a rhino will probably be the best way to go. i know guys that have cracked lots of different high end trials bikes, one guy in particular who would be a similar weight, hes quite stocky, and while hes cracked one or two high end frames, his rhino's have never given him issues.

Mate, observedtrials.com is a Canadian site for MOTO trials. Don't think youy're going to be buying a pushie of them anytime soon;)
Try www.biketrialsaustralia.com (http://www.biketrialsaustralia.com) ... there's really no need to buy from overseas when they're already here.

If youre thinking of buying new, definitely go to BTaust. But if youre looking at second hand, there really isnt enough of a pool of riders here to sell good second hand bikes cheap. SO, go to the site I suggested and try and buy from an Aussie :)

Tu Plang is pretty much on the ball, the Rhino's are cheap and hold up quite well, just only the basic 'stock' parts break eg. Bar, BB spindle, and possibly freewheel, but if you're buying 2nd hand, most of the times they're fixed up :)

Now is that me? :P
But either way, if you're willing to spend a 'bit' more, Steve over at www.Monty.com.au is selling nice complete intro bikes at VERY good prices such as... the NEW MOnty X-Alp Vee for $550, or that same bike but WITH Magura Brakes on rear and Cable disc up front for $800 and they ride quite nice

Ive been riding trials for a year on an Onza T-pro. pretty sturdy and reliable i would definately recommend to anyone who wants to get into trials on a 20inch.

I think you taller folks should go with the 26 inch bikies.. they are tougher and you look more "right" on it.
I'm 5'10, 177cm. 77 kg. and I'm on a DMR Sidekick. it works quite well as a trials bike or a urban bike. so you get two in one.
There was a Echo pure on sale here somewhere... check out the for sale section.
