View Full Version : SNAFU; the crap bmx brand?

Just from experience and other people's experience, Snafu levels have dropped. most of their parts seem to break fairly easily, and yes, they ARE meant to be a performance part. The worst part would have to be their "Chunk" sprockets. As strong as paper. And within a few months, the teeth split in half. Also heard some problems with their cranks and pedals. Companies such as Odyssey and S&M are way better than Snafu, which also sells around the same price (maybe depending what your shop is like). Has anyone else here had difficulties with Snafu parts?

I think SNAFU is a good brand. I have used their grips which are awesome and their seatclap which I have had no trouble with.

I also know a guy who has had SNAFU pedals for 3 years and hasnt had one problem. He also has SNAFU barends which hold up quite well.

SNAFU mightnt be the best brand but it is a little cheaper than the others too.
In my opinion SNAFU is great value for money.

A few of there products are reveiwed in RideBMX too. RideBMX said some really good stuff about their levers, sprockets, seats and cranks so they musnt be too bad!

With the grips it is, they are really comfortable with or without gloves.

Yeah what i was about to say! you get what you pay for! If you want bomb proof stuff you will probably have to get different parts from different companies. So spend a bit of money on quality not brand! and it will probably last longer.

Snafu of BMX is like the norco of MTB.

Seriously, watch what you say or you might go on a holiday. Do you really believe that quality=expensive? Are you a good judge of quality just by looking at something? Flapping your mouth makes you look foolish.

Cheers,

Derek

Sorry to offend you! didnt mean that! just i used to be a bit angry with norco! when i ordered one in the begining 2004 and it didnt come for 7 months! then when it did it fell apart!

Honestly i know i cant express what happened? (in public) Its the truth! But for a pointer when i did ride the upper end DH bike they were awsome! Props for the effort that went into them! maybe equal efforts should be spread out throughout the range!

But as some may recall one of the fastest growing threads on farkin was about norcos, wasnt it? about 2 years ago?

So noo need to get defensive!
and from what is quality! i see personally being a rider, not a promoter, that expensive parts like oddyessy and s&m, tend to last longer then the parts that, lets say arent as expensive but still have the "same quality". ;)

I tend to be for the companies that are owned and run by riders! And from experience they usally come back to you on your enquires and problems!(as they understand), and they seem to be the ones concerned with customer relations. So thats where my loyalty lies! with people who have done it, and do it for those who are doing it now!
So once again no need of me to dis Norco, (but what if a magazine gave a bad review) anyway repeat purchases will only occur when you give good customer service!..! - price has nothing to do with it!

My 3yo Snafu 4130 cranks and 3yo chunck sprocket are fine! The cranks are some of the strongest ive ever seen in the BMX market. As for the sprocket, well ive got no queries with it!

also keep in mind that $70 for 2 years is the same as $140 for four. but your bike will look better cos its parts are newer!! morons!!!

norco hardtails would have to be the best i have had the same frame for 3 years and nothing is wrong with it. i know some one who had an 02 250 with monsters and did like 20 ft drops on it. it depends if ur a smooth rider or ur just trash the shit out of ur bike.
cleary im the norco side.
thats my 2 cents

Ill side with norco too. My 2003 125 was an awesome bike, i did eventually develop a crack under the head tube, as did many others, and within 3 days of taking it into the shop, i walked out with a 250 for free.
All the 125 parts bolted on and its still goin strong.

Well specced, well priced tough bikes. Well done to them on finally getting the geo on the DH right too.

well, when i say norco is shit, i'm really focusing on the bmxs. yes, i say norco is shit, but im a bmxer, therefore focusing on the bmxs. only problem with norco mountain bikes i've heard of was the 125, and the snapping/cracking of the headtube. i had a 02 norco 250 and was fine. the last 2 norco 250 models have been good that i know. just with the bmxs....errr. we were pulling apart mine, and just looking at all the shitty parts they had on it. maybe m bikeshop was also an influence:rolleyes:

ive only heard problems with snafu. then again, you go to a bmx community and its all "odyssey rules, snafu sucks". but i totally agree with them.
