so you are giving up mtb because you can't afford the latest and greatest thing out:confused: consider if you actually want a bmx rather than feeling you have to so you don't get bagged for not having a cool enough bike.

yeah ignore 888ross, the dk general lee is not the best bmx but if you like the mtb feel then get the 24". i would suggest looking for a wethepeople addict 06.
pretty cheap at the moment..

hope it helped.

i havent heard anything about that bike. It might be weird thou because that particular bike only has a 20" top tube which is probably considerably smaller than what you are used to. What price range are you looking at this way we can suggest the best possible bike.

Things to look at on a bmx is always components and size. You want something with 3 piece cranks, Chrome rear rim (at least), sealed hubs, cassette hub for the rear, generally a TT length of about 20.5-21" and you might even look at the BB size (US are strong but heavy, euro are light and weaker, mid and spanish are similar in weight and strength).

But more often than not you will be looking at spending at least 600 for that stuff.

the reason im getting a bmx isnt because i'll get bagged if i have a crap mtb, its cos i can afford a not crap bmx and do it up a bit with my insurance money, anyway the budget for a bike is 400 maybe 450 if it seems worth it, the rest round 300 will go to new parts, what would you guys suggest?

been a while since i've looked at the oll' 20 inchers. but i used to have a hoffman disrupter, never had a problem with it, probably the best 20inch i ever owned, unlike my old specialized, where i was back at the bike shop every 1-3 weeks

get a fuzz. mine was 600 or so and it's pretty nice.

crome backwheel, cassette hub rear. sealed front, 3 peice sealed cranks, internal headset, 22" toptube.

my advice is to get a new 2006 eastern element. they are good priced about $550 but now the 2007 range is out it should drop greatly in price

# Full chromoly Frame and Fork
# Internal headset & sealed Spanish BB
# 3pc chromoly cranks
# 14mm Axles
# 48-hole high-wall alloy rims
# Cassette hub with 33/12 gearing
# Eastern seat, stem and grips

:) withy this pretty much nothing will need upgrading and its alot better than the general lee and most of DK's line up

wot about me being 5'8 on a 20" frame. Will this be ok or should I look into a bike with a 20.5 0r 20.75 TT length?

lol...feel better now? how about you go and have your red cordial and carrot sticks...

In my opinion, threads that are not moved to 'off forum' clean up are still fair game, I dont bother checking dates if the thread appears in 'new post' searches, and therefore, answer them accordingly.
Need a new hobby internet nazi?

Not having a go at anyone, just joking around (should have used the :p ) I just think he could have started his own thread so that people don't have to read two pages of posts to find a new question.

If i started my own thread then someone would of said "use the search function"

I searched and this thread came up...why would I need to start a new one dude about the same bike?

Geez cant win.

Good idea coming right up:D

When you make the thread, say you used the search button and nothing relevant came up, Then if you get people saying "use the search button" you get to flame them for not reading your posts:p
