Hey Girls!
We've been talking about this for ages (well, at least I have) and now that I'm back on the bike I figured it was about time we organised something!
Anyone interested in a casual ride to meet all the chix in Sydney?
We were thinking:
Blue Mtns (trail to be determined - suggestions welcome but nothing too technical!)
On a weekend morning (specific day TBC - let us know your availability so we can hopefully get as many people there)
Obviously nothing is locked in, so if you have any suggestions or anything feel free to speak up! :)
I will be there with plenty of elbow armour  and it will probably be my first real ride back after my accident... and my first (full) ride on my new bike! Woo!

Where are you Anna? I could possibly give you a lift if you're near my area. Otherwise training it is an option.

hey
terra do you mind which day on the weekend we go?
I am working sunday but could try and swap it. Guess then we could hook up with anna???
Oh actually terra do you wanna do the oaks? Cause we could go somewhere else?
Hopefully the bushfires up here arent gunna wipe us out eh? They are burning pretty crazy like up futher... basically out of control i think.. and with the amount of firetrucks going up that highway it aint looking good. But the lower mountains is fire free at this present stage. Any of the blue mts national park is closed i think.... Glenbrook national park is open.

Yeh That really bites. Unless someone can think of somewhere close that's alright I don't think we'll be going this weekend. I think Manly Dam is closed, Blue Mtns are closed, the Hunter and Hawkesbury have fires too so they're probably out... Guess we'll have to give it a miss?!

ahhh im so cut about that!! Damn fires

I wouldn't even think about riding the Oaks at the moment. While the fire is on the north side of the highway it doesn't take much of a wind change for it to rip up out of the Grose and jump the highway.

The Oaks is an overrated ride anyhow:o)

Hi Bethany
Yep - that's what we use to call it when we raced there a
few seasons back :D ..
It is in Yarramundy but the actual Recreation area is called
Yellowmundy Rec park - it's written on the green gate at the entrance
,, but I dont think there will be much riding there by the sounds if it ..
I Do know that the trails on the out skirts of the Royal National park
havent been closed - well at least they were open last night anyway
so possibly good for yas if you were looking for a spot to blast ..
any way
I will also be heading out to Oxford Falls / Lizard rock on Sunday
with the G-man & Pylet team for some DH runs and sessioning the
new north shore stunts at the bottom of the oxford track - should be
a hoot ,, should come out for a blast - Oxford caters to all levels of
riding from DH / Freeriding to some Fantastic XC loops and fun stuff ..
Catch up with you all soon I hope ..

i was just on the RFS website it said :
The Blue Mountains National Park south of the Great Western Highway is open for park visitors, however with ongoing fire operations the Blue Mountains National Park north of the Great Western Highway will remain closed until further notice. This park closure affects visitation to Govetts Leap, Evans Lookout, Victoria Falls, Point Pilcher, Pulpit Rock, Perry’s Lookdown and Mount Hay. Visitors and residents should refrain from wandering around burnt areas of the park due to the potential for dangerous trees to drop limbs or fall.
That means oaks is open again right?

so when are we hittin it up then?
Hey
Anyone want to meet up for a lap of Manly Dam this Saturday? Starting at 11.30am at the Manly Vale primary school in Manly Vale Heights (top of Gibbs Street). All welcome, it will be a very social ride. For those who haven’t done it before, it’s a lap of approx. 11km with the odd technical section (easily avoided or walked!).
Cheers

No worries, we just had a slow run down the DH to warm up for the climb up the other side. Would be good to catch up, let me know if you're gonna come along. Although not sure what we do about Dave coming on a chix ride ...?!!
Hi
Due to a few responses from the mtb-oz-chix list where I also posted this ride, I am now rescheduling it to 6pm on Sunday 10 Dec.
Meet at Manly Vale primary school in Manly Vale Heights, (top of Gibbs Street).
Hope to see some of the Sydney chix there!

Nik and i rode the oaks and it was so hot. i have lovely white hands and red arms! haha
Hi Bethany
We had a great ride. Met up with Caro and Shane who had already done two laps but it didn't seem to slow them down any! The 6pm start worked well, it gave me chance to get over my hangover and the temperature was perfect!
Hope to see you out there sometime!
Cheers
