Is the hollowpoint that they use for DS the same as the hollowpoint team under XC on the IH website?

Ryan

Turley: Straight from the mouth of DW, Madcatz / Iron Horse are racing 4X on bone stock Hollowpoint frames (I do believe it's the same frame used throughout the Hollowpoint range)

why isnt there team dh running deemax? are they too heavy or something compared to the 321 combo?

why isnt there team dh running deemax? are they too heavy or something compared to the 321 combo?

For one, they are so similar to 321s it kinda makes no difference.

The other reason may be hub sizing but thats just a guess.

Ryan

The rims on the DH rig are D3.1s, they're the same rim as found on the DeeMax wheelset essentially, just with 32 holes so they can be built up to a normal hub (The DeeMax wheelset is 28 hole).
Incidentally, I was talking to my LBS owner today about getting a hold of some D3.1's so he called Group Sportife, the distributor for Mavic and they told him they neither have them, nor plan to get them at all this year, idiots, no wonder people mail order.

It's not dissimilar, but it isn't anywhere near as adjustable as an M1.

At first I thought the news ones looked like crap (I always liked the yellow DeeMax as they really stood out), but they're now really starting to grow on me. I think they look rather sleek.

Jared, what are the main geometry differences between the Team SGS and the retail one? The rear shock frame mount (position) appears to be the most significant change.

Im with you Fuzzy, i liked the old yellow Dee Max way better then the new ones. The new ones just don't have as good of an appeal with that gun metal grey or what ever it is.

On closer inspection, the mount is exactly the same too.

Jared, how much riding have you done on yours?

Mmm... i am not a fan, but that DH thing is sweet. I'm up for a better look when i see one next. Surely the hollowpoint is beefed up a bit- a MTB Action said they were a bit flexy for XC, and i don't want to think of rennie going big on an xc bike...

Cool bikes

How opinions change eh Jared?

MBA (aka Mountain Bike Fiction) are SO full of shit it's not funny. Seriously, the editor is flat-out stupid, the reviews are so biased that it's incredible that they even sell magazines, and the quality of the articles is up there with used toilet paper. They have basically one or two favourite bikes for every type of riding (notice that Intenses top the list on at least 3 categories) and everything else tends to get slagged in one way or another.

The Hollow point is beefed up, it is a MTX model and only 50 are coming into australia i think, the downtube is beefer on the MTX modle, the xc ones are different.

No, that's a regular hollowpoint, the hollowpoint MTX didn't even exist when this photo was taken. Rennie, Graves, Hill and Atkinson all rode bog stock XC Hollowpoints for 4X last season. There are only a few Hollowpoint MTX frames in existence even now and they have more modifications than just a beefy downtube.

I don't know where you're getting your information from, but I seriously doubt we'll see 50 Hollowpoint MTX frames in Australia, the first run is going to pretty small.

In summary, if you're going to gravedig, don't gravedig with lies.

my infomation is from a ricky lee(sponsored ironhorse rider), cause he is getting one (MTX) and his dad speaks to the manufactuer, i didnt know they rode the xc ones but the new ones are beefed up, i know that for a fact.
