Ladies and gentlemen, today we enjoy an insight into a man who has been a part of the Australian MTB scene for longer than anyone wants to remember. He's been on TV shows like Chosen Line, written for the top magazines, imports bikes and bike parts, works in a bikeshop, builds MTB trails and rides like a bat out of hell.

Farkers, meet boysick!

http://i11.photobucket.com/albums/a184/demo_man/BoyerThredbo.jpg

Who are you (name, bikes you ride, age, etc.)?
Rick Boyer, I’m 25 and been riding bikes all my life.
I only ride Orange. I do some Downhill and a spot of dirt jumping. I ride casual XC to boot and have done a few endurance events. All on flat pedals, nothing else.

When and why did you become a member of Farkin?
A few years back, just to chat to a few people and get into the internet dating scene. I wasn’t riding enough so I thought I could waste more time on the internet.

What made you choose that username?
Ben Cory calls me that sometimes, apart from sweetheart, it was easy enough. I thought I would get some anonymity from it but i didn’t think about it too hard at the time.

Who is your favourite rider of all time, and why?
If I have to pick between Shaun Palmer and Nicolas Voullois, id say Palmer for his style and flair.

How many bikes do you have in that garage of yours?
Personally I have about half a dozen, but I live with two other fellas that ride and the garage is chock a block, they’ve got more than me.

How many of them do you actually use?
All of them at one time or another, some only get raced like my DH bike and my Bmx only comes out once a year, but the others get used on a fairly regular basis.

What’s your favorite section of Farkin and why?
i don’t mind the front page news, just to keep me on top of all the things, it has all the pretty colours. But I like the classifieds and the race news and info. Phat vids is good too when you find the right ones.

What are your jobs, and the most interesting things about
them?
I run Citrus Speed Imports importing Orange, Royal and Dangerboy, work for Glen Jacobs building some of the worlds best MTB tracks and do some time at Lifecycles Penrith when I’m free. Its pretty much just all about the lifestyle at the moment. It’s a real good mix and I don’t get bored.

So how long have you been ridding and why did you
start?
My Granddad had me riding since I was 2, pushing me around the back yard. That started it and I’ve been riding all kinds of bikes ever since. Riding just feels good, I like going fast.

Long trail rides in the wilderness or short stints on your local trails?
Short stints on the local trials, I’ve had some epics, but we have some epic local trails.

Mac or PC?
PC of course, I don’t get into that arty farty shit myself.

Whole Milk or lite?
Pura Gold, extra Creamy.

Last time you were approached by the police?
Lets not go there…its actually been a while since I have and the frequency has slowed quite a lot for those kind of meetings. Lets just say that my driving record is a good example of what not to do.

Best and worst MTB moments?
My junior years in the Aussie DH team, overseas trips with the junior assault squadron. There have been quite a few good times.

It’s less than a week until the Australian National Championships in Canberra – who are your picks for the podium and why?
Graves and Madill for 4X, Bootes possibly too.
DH might see Sam on one of the podium places and Rando too, that’s all im saying. Theres a whole host of contenders!

What about the National series overall?
Amiel pretty much has it all sewn up, hes been unstoppable all season.

How do you see the Aussie mountain bike scene changing in the future?
More freeriding and hucks to flat, it saddens me greatly.

When will you stop riding?
Well, it definitely wont be any time soon, but I do take time out depending on how good the surf or snow is.

Who would you love to see become a member of
