It was a foggy night just before Christmas 2006.....the harbour had limited visibility......word had gotten around that a strange ship was heading towards Coffs Harbour......A pirate ship. I stood on the beach and peered through the fog at the massive sinister looking vessel that had just docked......a lone figure appeared........Entombed had arrived.

Who are you? (Name, age, job etc)
Stephen Hillenbrand also known as Steve the pirate. 33 years young. Married to a beautiful girl and have a little pinner called Isaac. I work as a media lecturer in SA. Also take photos when I am not working for the man.

Why did you become a member of Farkin?
Probably just to give shit to the Vandals and pimp my photos.

What made you choose that username?
For the love of the band. Once voted as the best metal show ever by Kerang. I mean any band that can drink red wine straight from the bottle on stage while playing guitar is cool in my books.

What’s your favorite section of Farkin and why?
I don’t have one, although I spend a bit of time in parts and stuff, I tend to Troll. And reply to the private messages, “did you get a photo of me with planet number “

What would attract riders to your area?
The trails and the local riders who build them.

You take a few photos of MTB action, what does a photographer look for to get a good shot?
Backgrounds. Landscapes. That golden light. I never worry about my subject and as I know they will be pinned. Its all about what’s behind the rider. (a few beers helps also helps to fill out these questions).

Tell us about your input into a certain Australian MTB magazine and what it involves.
That’s all hush hush, occasionally I get a call for a specific shot otherwise I just shoot and send stuff off to JT and Matt. 2 months later I get the mag in mail before all the kids. ITS GOOD. The next issues will be banging.

You ride with some well known characters from the Aussie MTB scene. Do you pick much up by riding with them?
I have learnt many a thing about bush mechanics, it was only yesterday that Alan Hepburn taped my rear brake line hose to my seat stay after crashing and going over the bars at eagle. Place grass in tires when you have a puncture. Bend spoke over instead of replacing, its alright to ride with 9/10ths spokes. Tape holds knee pads up. It’s a myth that brakes need fluid. I can go on.

Best and worst MTB moments?
Best: Seeing your mates go big and pin
Worst: Having meat inserted into seat tubes. Not a good thing 3 weeks later.

Who will win the world champs in 2007 for downhill?
I don’t know, would be nice to see Sam take it back to back. Razorblade to take out juniors. Either way ill be there cheering them on.

How do you see the Aussie mountain bike scene changing in the future?
More organized events in slope style and dirt jumping. More bmx to flow into mtb tricks. More OS exposure in the media.

What is one place you’d like to ride in Australia and who would you take with you?
The local BMX track with Isaac (my son)

Who would you love to see become a member of
Farkin?
Chopper as a mod.

Do you work on your own bike or get a quality mechanic to do it?
I am a quality mechanic, I’ve learnt from the best. Normally we just roll round to Grants and get him to deal with it.

What are your best and worst movies?
At the moment A Clockwork orange is the best one and Dodge ball is the worst.

What music is in your CD player at the moment?
About three hundred albums. I just hit shuffle, the Ipod never disappoints. Although I have been listening to the new Slayer album a fair bit, just getting worked up about the tour in march.

If you were a politician, what is the first thing you would change in Australia?
Make all bikes tax deductible and abolish any price increases of beer.

What are your hobbies apart from being around bikes?
Fishing and hot sauce, and not that piss weak Tabasco stuff. The real stuff like Mustard gas and Colon Cleaner. Oh so good.

If you could take up another sport, what would it be and why?
Rodeo rider – I like the hats and the utes.

You probably haven't realised that the bloke you've seen taking photos of you racing and having a blast on a bike is Entombed. He loves doing what he does and he loves getting on his bike and raising some dust of his own. If you ever get the chance to say G'day to him......do it! You won't regret it.

Nice one Mate!

We are currently negotiating with Chopper to join Farkin management. If we get him, all residential addresses will be required before registration is accepted.

Of all of the "who should become a member" questions, Entombed has given the best answer! I pissed myself when I read Chopper, imagine the hiding we'd all get for being too soft! Even you would cop it Johnny.;)

The one impression that I got when hanging out with Entombed was that he loves being involved in anything to do with MTB. If he isn't riding, he is taking your photo or helping your build something on your trails or talking gibberish about bikes. He is a true asset to the Aussie scene.
