Item: 3M protective film, stops cable rub, sticks, rocks etc from damaging frame
Location:Adelaide, usually cost about $3 for postage with Aus
Item Condition:NEW
Reason for selling:-
Price and price conditions:Depends on the size, an average downtube is about $11 plus postage
Extra Info:Just measure what size you want and PM me with the dimensions. It is ultra sticky, easy to apply but does not peel paint or leave sticky residue on your bike. It is very similar to thick clear book adhesive, BUT proper paint protection made by one of the biggest manufacturers in the world 3M. Can also be used for a car, boat etc

i ride xc, so often head up the belair way! It depends where your cables are etc as to where you want the film and how much.

I would suggest looking at and measuring:
1. Downtube, usually around 650mm x 70mm (but obviously depends on bike)
2. Chainstays
3. Cranks (maybe)
4. Some patches around stem, welds etc

If you want one for the downtube and stays or cranks, I will throw in a few patches for free. Just measure what u want and let me know!

Just wondering how thick this stuff is. Could you give a comparison to something (eg. piece of paper, card on a birthday card, buisness card, etc.). Just trying to get an idea of how thick this stuff is.
Cheers

To give you guys a rough idea.. the 3M film is genuinely made for automotive use as a paint protective film. It is typically used on bonnets, bottom of doors etc on cars so it is strong and tough. It is not some cheap crap clear book contact, it is actually made for this kinda stuff!

I would say it is thicker than paper, but not thick as card. Would be thicker than the the old book adhesive (contact).

A piece for the downtube eg 50mm x 700mm would be $10, set for the cranks ie 2 pieces $3. For $20 you will get a piece for the downtube, cranks stays, and a heap of little patches for putting around the frame to stop cable rub.

Postage will be $3 for any order which includes a Aus Post CD box to stop them getting crushed.

If you want some, PM and you can paypal me (or bank deposit) and I will then post it to you within a day or so. Too hard for local pickup, sorry!

A piece for a standard downtube, 2 chain stays, cranks and a few patches to put on the frame is about $25 posted. But you will need to measure each section ie downtube, stays and let me know. I will then PM u a price

how flexible is this stuff, i wouldnt mind doing the stays on my hardtail but the tubes arent huge cause its a cromo frame

bikeman123

Its very flexible and will do stays easily. It is like a thicker clear, adhesive book cover (like contact). You can also warm it slightly with a hair dryer if need be before hand.

Hey guys, I never said I am selling it cheaper than FTR, I don't even know who FTR are!

If you want/can get it from them, please go for it. If you want to get it from me, it may cost more than FTR but if you don't know who FTR are either, or if you can't find it anywhere else, I can get it.

Obviously not the cheapest, but at least you can get some quick if you need it from me.

Not trying to rip anyone off here...

hey mate, could be interested oh and FTR stands for "for the rider's" a internet bike shop in Australia.

bikeman123
19-12-2007, 04:33 PM
Thanks guys for the heads up. I had a look at FTR and noticed it is slightly different to mine. I get mine in 15cm (6 inch) wide pieces on a long roll. Dont know, but would have thought u would struggle to do a downtube with the larger but different shape sheets from FTR? I can get infinite lengths that are 6" wide if that helps anyone?
