I've been riding for about 6-8 months. Really enjoying it...
Looking for girls to ride with in Brisbane - who just want to have fun... :)
Toni, I have a friend I have been helping to learn to ride mtb in Bunya and Gap Creek areas but I cant get out at the times that suit her. I can put you in touch with her if you are interested, she lives at Enoggera. She has a couple of other new female riders she is in contact with as well.

Yeah that would be great. I normally ride at Daisy Hill with my partner and his friends but would like some girls to ride with also.

Toni, I'll ride with you. I've been riding for a long time now, but I'm always looking for other girls to ride with...
I also usually ride in Daisy. When are your preferred riding times? I can only really ride mtb on weekends (unless I drag out my lights) as I road ride during the week. Do you do any road riding?
Don't let that scare you - the fact that I've ridden for a long time, and ride road, doesn't mean I'm any good!!
Ciao,
Lotte

Hi Lotte
Thanks for your post. I've only been riding since about July last year so I have a lot to learn. I only mountain bike at the moment... never tried road cycling.
I usually ride at Daisy Hill Saturday mornings with my partner and a few of his friends. I use to ride every Tuesday and Thursday night at Daisy (under lights) but I am back at Uni now and have night classes Tuesdays. I still ride Thursday nights when I have the time.
We just got back from NZ holiday. There are a lot of places to ride over there and it doesn't get dark until around 9.30... its great! We spent a few days riding Coronet Peak and also went heli-biking.
Are you going to Daisy this weekend?
I can ride Tuesday mornings until around 12pm, Wednesday and Thursday nights and the weekends.
Thanks
Toni

Hi Toni
My main mtb day is Saturday (mornings usually). I *could* probably do Thursday night, but by the time I get home from work, walk dogs etc. it becomes a bit of a nightmare (that's why I road ride during the week).
We've been thinking about taking our bikes to NZ, but we're really slack at organising (renovating house currently - one big nightmare).
Do you want to hook up for a ride on Saturday? I usually go early (around 6am) to beat the heat.... do you want to meet at the top or bottom car park? I usually do bottom car park as parking tends to become an issue up top, but I'm easy either way...
Let me know.
Cheers,
Lotte
Hi Toni
I live at daisy hill and would be happy to meet up with you for a cruisy ride around daisy sometime. Unfortunately I am restricted to weekends because of work commitments, although i do commute on the slicked-up mtb through the week. If I ever manage to get some new lights I would also be keen to start night riding again.
Cheers

Given the lack of response, I'll ride with others tomorrow :-) But e-mail if you're ever interested in riding - either of you :-)

Hey Lotte
I would go riding with you but I have plans for this weekend, unfortunately my weekends tend to get booked up pretty well in advance, maybe another time.

Sorry for not responsing any earlier... its been a hectic week. I am riding at Daisy tomorrow with my partner and probably a few of his friends if you want to come with us. We will probably be out there around 10am.
We usually just have a fun ride... and work on some technical things as I'm still learning....

Thanks for the offer Toni, but unfortunately that's a bit late for me. I prefer to get it out of the way early. We're renovating an old sh!tbox house, so I need all the time I can get on weekends. But again, thanks for the offer.
If you're ever keen for an early ride, let me know.
Cheers,

Hey guys
I ride out at daisy hill most sundays with my partner, we are always looking for extra people to join us. Generally it is just the 2 of us. We don't do anything to difficult just cruise around, doing approx 10ks maybe, only really a short one. I, too like a sleep in which usually gets us there at about 10 - 11ish in the morning although we have been known to be there as early as 9am.
I've been riding mtb for about 2yrs, plus I commute, although I am massively unfit, think I really need to adjust my diet ;)
Anyway if you wish to join us just let me know.

Hi Brooke
Yeah we would definitely be interested in going for a ride with you two. Let us know when you are going next and maybe we can meet you out there.
Maybe Lottee and Emms could come along too if they want.
Thanks

Hi Toni and Brooke
If you happen to decide on a date/time that's suitable for you both, post it up here and I will do my very best to get there. As I mentioned before I live at Daisy Hill so I can easily ride to the top/dirt carpark and meet you there.
Cheers

I know it's seriously late notice, but we are riding tomorrow at Daisy Hill. Aiming to be at the carpark near the pond and the BMX track at around 10am. All are welcome to join us remembering that we are there for fun and don't fly through the place really quickly, just cruise really.
My name is Brooke, scream it out and I will generally find people or you could look for a white ford laser with roof racks, hopefully see a couple of you out there tomorrow morning.

I ended up riding in Daisy on Saturday morning, but headed back to the car park after only having done 2nd Cumin due to being sore as a result of a stack had at Gap Creek on Friday. Came barrelling around a corner, thinking I knew where I was. Saw a rutted little downhill section with stairs. Went to the left of it, hit a tree with one shoulder, then landed on a log (one of the stairs) on my chest. Have numerous big bruises on my legs and one big one on my boob.
I think I may have done some damage to my ribs as well, but I can't be arsed going to the doctor as I've done rib damage before (cartilage and bone) and there never seems to be anything they can do about it...
I'm miffed because that stack destroyed all of my plans for the long weekend - riding and renovating....

WE ended up getting out there at 1015, went for a short ride, started checking out side tracks to see where would be suitable to take my 6 & 8 yro nephews. Did the loop round 2nd cummin, deep junior that general area, got to the top of CB thought yeah, we'll head back to the car, neither of us were really into it, then my partner promtly got a flat. We sat on the side of CB for 20mins trying to fix it. Shouldn't be a hard job for a bike messenger who changes flats on a regular basis, but for some reason everything wanted to go wrong. firrstly we had the wrong valve on the spare tube, then BOTH pumps wouldn't work properly. It was disaterous, so nobody missed anything!!! Another time maybe......

Damnit.
I wish I'd realised this post was up earlier!
My bf works all day saturday and I have been hoping for ages that I could find someone/people to ride with at Daisy Hill or Nerang. Some weekends I head out there by myself because I need quality bike time! It'd be much better if I knew people who I could organise to ride with instead of being Nigel No Friends on my bike :)
I've been riding a year and a half. I have a cross-country bike and I have also just bought a downhill bike. If any of you would like to organise a ride sometime I would be keen as.
My email is melissa_royce@hotmail.com
Have a good weekend!

It seems all the women are riding daisy hill, are theyre any riding out a gap creek on a regular basis? Daisy hill is just too far, as ive got no other method of transport apart from my bike.
Am keen to go riding with other women, only really ridden with the boys.

Looks like theres lots of talk on here about xc tracks in brisbane, but what about DH? sounds like there is only really the Gap and Mt Cootha.??
Im thinking about moving up to Brisbane, and want to make sure I get a house near DH tracks and also xc trails.
I know I could probably post on the other part of the forum, but thought I might get more sense out of you girls :)
So where are the DH tracks? I want to be close enough to some so its still possible to punch out after work runs.
cheers
There's plenty, you just can't talk about most of them because they're conveniently illegal. Your best bet is to rock up, look/ask for some people to ride DH with, and go nuts.
If you're into racing we have a pretty rad lineup of state race tracks at the moment too, and once you get in with the right people some of these open up to ride at on other days too.
As for after work runs, you're probably out of luck. Most tracks near the city/surburbia are illegal and enforced which sucks. Best bet is to get a place towards the northside and make the drive to the tracks on weekends.

There is a group on Facebook called Blue Moon Mountainbikers that have heaps of girls who go riding. They generally rotate their rides around Brisbane: Bunya, Gap Creek, Daisy, Karawatha each weekend and also hit Nerang and Tewantin from time to time. They also do a quarterly adventure trip. They are not a club, it's free to join and the girls just rock! Riding skill levels go from beginner through to freeride / downhill. Just check the group out on facebook to see what they get up to.
