Sorry I'm a day late! In the high tech world of online communication I was delayed a little but the wait was worth it!
This time we are saying G'day to one of farkin's very regular members. You've seen his name pop up just about anywhere in here and you've probably bought something off him somewhere.........
Ladies and gentlemen meet......Daver!
Who are you? (Name, age, job etc)
Daver.......... (http://i163.photobucket.com/albums/t317/dhdozer/DSC_0745.jpg)

I’m Dave Andrews, 20 years young. I’m a full time Arts student at university in my second year, and in my spare time I work at Bike Addiction in Sydney (along with about half of Farkin or so it seems. I’ve been riding since I was in primary school and racing since I left school.
Why did you become a member of Farkin?
To whine bitch and moan basically. Arguing and massaging my e-ego as well. Actually I was just bored and had stumbled upon Farkin in a magazine, and next thing I know its four years on and a shitload of wasted time later.
What made you choose that username?
Having been in school classes and groups with other Dave’s, Dave A went to Dave-a and so on. Perhaps squid or bikewhore would have been better, but I can’t complain.
You have been around the forums for a while and your post count reflects that. What are some of your finest memories from Farkin?
So many. Arguing about Ironhorses with Jared, arguing about trail access with the builders, being compared to Tai-Lee [Muxlow], generally being a smartarse basically. Actually my best memories of Farkin aren’t the actual forums, it’s more like meeting everyone in person, when the bullshit stops and you have a few beers together.
You have done a fair bit in the trading area of Farkin, what do you suggest for the “do’s and don’ts” of trading?
Don’t trade with me when I’m busy. I’m not well organized and I leave things to the last minute, so stuff leaves late, and people get shitty. Don’t annoy J5ive or he’ll crack the whip. Never ever deal with young’uns. Also, there are a lot of people trying to sell stuff at ridiculous prices- the second hand value of high-end parts is practically nothing.
What are your riding disciplines and what bikes do you ride in each?
I have an old Bianchi roadie that I ride road for fun, but lately I’ve been avoiding it after the RTA removed some of the bile lanes near me (along the M2) making it harder to go out- I’ve ended up buying a wind trainer which is still staring at me from the box.
I race MTNX or 4x or whatever its called this week on my Nicolai BMXTB, which doubles as the bike I ride to lunch and my beach cruiser and just about everything really. I plan on racing some shorter XC events on it too in the future.
For DH I have a Nicolai UFO ST which has been super reliable since I’ve had it- the bike went from October last year all through the national series under me without having any problems, save for knocking my wheels slightly out of true at Tasmania.
I’d also like to thank Nicho Bailly at Rouler for supporting both myself and the other Grassroots guys.
Best and worst MTB moments?
I think last year had it all in one for me. From the lows of breaking my arm right before the first race of the state series (on my second day on a new bike), having surgery twice on the arm to get it to set straight and then missing the majority of the series; to the highs of coming 3rd in the mtnx series after racing two events and being asked to ride with the grassroots team. In the whole scene, it was great to see Hill win the world champs, but a shame that the competition was not as high as it could have been.
Lay it over! What an awesome photo! (http://i163.photobucket.com/albums/t317/dhdozer/DSC_0601.jpg)

You have to spend $1,000 in one hour. What would you buy?
Tough question. I’d book some plane tickets and accommodation and go to Tasmania to ride at Glenorchy, although from what I’ve been told Coffs wouldn’t be a bad alternative. A week away riding is the most relaxing thing I can think of at the moment, especially when its been raining for the last few days.
How do you see the Aussie mountain bike scene changing in the future?
It will become more and more like snowboarding and skiing. Racing is still going to be a fringe area, but trail riding, street and jumping will become mainstream. At the moment I see far more DJ style bikes than BMX’s locally. Competition is becoming more accessible and organized, but it doesn’t seem to be growing like everywhere else.
Who would you love to see become a member of
Farkin?
Fuzzy and rooks. I would love to see them unbanned and live. As far as new members go, I’d love to see more pros and people with an idea about parts actually post so that there are less shitfights about what works and what doesn’t.
What music is in your CD player at the moment?
I just bought a Blindside CD (which was a brain melt because I already had half the songs from Limewire), and the latest Triple J 100, Arctic Monkeys and Rise Against CD’s are on high rotation too.
What do you do when you’ve planned a day of riding and you wake up to discover it is pouring with rain?
Jump on here and give people grief.
What is the dumbest thing you’ve ever done?
There are so many that it’s hard to narrow it down to one. Probably knocking over witches’ hats in the way to a race. We were pulled over, had our own witches hats impounded and asked to wait in town to see if we would face a fine or not. After a good half hour in the most boring town I’ve ever been in, we were allowed to leave with our witches hats after a lecture. Letting someone without a license drive my car on shuttle runs only for him to somehow wedge it on a stump comes close too.
If you were a politician, what is the first thing you would change in Australia?
I would ban the political advertising we get leading up to every election and bad ads for government owned business. The money could be used more successfully just about anywhere else, and it also worries me if this advertising can really sway people. At the very least I’d like to see more legal tracks and more funding for clubs and racing bodies.
You have your own corporate suite at the opera, free booze, free food…all of the good stuff. Who would you invite and what would you do to make the night more interesting?
Opera isn’t really a big past time, but I think a bunch of downhillers at an event like that would be hard to beat. The post race shenanigans that go on would be nothing compared to what these guys would wreak at an opera.
What are your hobbies apart from being around bikes?
I’m a big fan of motorsport, especially WRC and the European Touring cars, so I try to follow that as well as I can. That said, I can’t bear watching any of the V8s here without falling asleep- its just so boring. In winter I ski as much as I can- it’s so similar to mountain biking but far more relaxing and easy on the body. Otherwise nothing really beats just having a beer with friends and playing with our cats.
What is the next big thing in your life that you are looking forward to the most?
My 21st at the Awaba state round. I’m already not looking forward to the morning after…
Tell us a joke……
2010 worlds at Thredbo…
Daver's 21st should be something ythat we'll all hear about! Happy Birthday for when it rolls around and good luck with your future mate! That photo hitting the berm is just fantastic!
