Newbie question, but i was looking over trialshive.com, and i was wondering how brake boosters work to boost braking, and what a snail cam does
cheers

brake boosters simply reduce the deflection/seperation of the brake mount posts under braking. where is this snail cam you speak of?

i think the snail cams you are talkin bout are the ones used to adjust your chain/wheel on horizontal dropouts.

Tu_plang is on the money about the Brake Boosters
i think the snail cams you are talkin bout are the ones used to adjust your chain/wheel on horizontal dropouts.
That's pretty much spot on, But snail cams only apply to 20"/Mod Horiztonal Trials bikes, pretty much it's an oval-ish shape, one side being fatter than the other, to tension the chain, you just rotate it slowly to the fatter side >> therefore it'll push the wheel/axle out further. Also the snail cams rest on a small grub screw, that's how the ovalish shape pushes the axle
If that all makes sense..... :S
