What would you buy. I have a 2002 Kona Stinky. Have upgraded to 8in Hydros, Rear shoch is a Fox RL. I have a good deal on some 2002 Boxxer's. But feel maybe the Z1's would be better for the hills. But I keep coming back to the Boxxers (like the idea of extra travel)

Do you think having only 5inches in the back and 7 in the front is over kill? Do you think the Boxxers will be to hard up the hills? I have been told they are fairly stiff so should not be to bad on the hills.

I mainly ride trails, drop offs etc. Really enjoy the fast downhills but like most of us do not have a chairlift to put me back on the top so have to ride up hills as well.

Well, I would say unless you are prefared to push back up the hills loke most of us.. just get the single crowns. oh, and if you are goign to get z1's make sure they got ecc, click it on, one push and you got 30mm of travel or so for all your climbing needs :)

Are the Drop Offs with a 20mm axle, as you will need that for the 8 inch hydros?

If you're going uphill, I'd go for the dropoffs (or if ya can afford it, the Z1 Freeride).

boxxers are the sweetest all round forks IMO...

Wasn't the World Cup a new model for 2003?

There was a world cup 'sort of' last year. It was a ti nitride version of the red fork.

I used Boxxers on a Bullit for about 3 years and found them to be of no hinderance climbing. During this time I have also had a 1999 Mr T and a SID. There was nothing I couldn't do on my Bullit that I could do on my Superlight, so don't get the Z1 thinking you will climb better. Yeah, you can notice the weight when you switch back and forth between 2 bikes, but if you only have one you will never notice.

The worst thing that could happen putting it on a stinky is you will eventually think you don't have enough rear travel. You won't think you have too much front travel.

Go for the Boxxer I reckon.

02 Boxxer had Hydrocoil1 damping and the rebound adjuster Knob did bugger all. On 03 models the damping adjustment actually works.
I would go the boxxers. They will feel more solid and inspire more confidence.

I would say go the Boxxers 2. If ur wury'd about gettin up da hills then save up an by a road casette an deralieur wit 38t ring and u can hit anything. boxxers will b better for when u wamt to go bigger and faster and r still good 4 up hill. I have a mate runnin da road gear on a 16" Crappa DHR208 and he peddals up all da shit I do on a hardtail.

go for the boxxer. so much nicer then the z1!! 7inches or 5??? i would go for 7 :D

if u think its overkill running 7inches on a bike that has 5 in the rear. i must be fkn crazy having 7inches on a HT :P

go the boxxer.
as well as making ur bike look beastier it woul be mad have the extra 40cm or whatever of travel.
make sure if u get the freerides they have 20mm through axle or u wont be able to run ur 8 inch rotors and that will suck anal.

one problem with the boxxers..in 02 they had the gold ni tride coatings on the stancion and they ditched the gold because it would flake off if u got a scratch, now the have silver ni tri...i agree wit sherman sliders...there 1300$ or something ridicolous and look sweet as hell

they pretty much the same, teams and world cups this year both kinda sux but a little tinkering with the glide rings and rebound catridge(thanks to the rock shox factory mechanics) and you can have one sweeeeeet fork alot better than z1
