Well, an injury was bound to happen sooner or later. Just had my control for around 2-3 weeks and i tryed to ride it almost every day. I was out at my usual Trial spot and finally able to consistently hop up onto a wooden seat, just around knee high, did a few wheelie drops, then got a bit cocky and did a endo side drop, nailed it perfect the first time, never did that high before. Then hopped up and then did the second endo side drop and in mid air off the side my foot slips off the pedal and i drop down and my knee hits the pedal and splits it right open(the soft meat area just below the knee cap), cut it right to the bone, and i have 5 stitches on it.

I have those old school VP pedals with the double tooth edge, nasty little buggers, im definitely getting knee pads when im healed, 3 weeks off without trials is hell. Already shredded my shins twice, so i have shin pads already lol.
This is what they look like - http://www.tartybikes.co.uk/product.php?id=320

Anyone else have any nasty experiences they wish to share?

I used to use 661 hard shell shin and knee pads after a couple of nasty shin gashes but the hard shell pads weren't really comfortable so i switched to shin only soft pads (vegies i think) and I find them much better. They stay much more where they should do. I haven't hit my knee recenly so fingers crossed.

Ive got the 661 shin pads as well, the veggie ones, they have a thin flexible plate inside, and they work well, never slipping. If i can find something like that in knees with a plate in side that would be good, but havent seen anything like that in the shops. Otherwise ill be going for the 661 veggie knee pads.

Yeah I had the exact same thing happen to my knee, but I didn't have stitches put in cos I didn't tell anyone until it had healed...I hate stitches.

I was manualling the whole first row of my local(ish) BMX track, (manual up the first lip, over the jump and down the down ramp then continue along manualling the rest...you get the idea) and I had slowed right down by the end of the straight. Had to keep moving around on the bike to keep the manual going, and because I was using my brothers pedals which were significantly smaller than mine, I didn't realise I couldn't move as far side to side and slipped off.

If anyone has had experience with Dice Outlaw pedals, you'll know they are death to the shins. I had two Dice Outlaw pins go through my knee almost to the bone, where its all fleshy and white. Didn't bleed for about 10 minutes, but it didn't stop bleeding for about 12 hours. Probs should have had stitches...haha. Got a nice big purple scar on my knee now that gets bigger and smaller when I extend or contract it haha.

i was on my crapy 7 year old bmx i was goin to the shops with a mate and there was a little jump that was in the car park. but this time i went my hardest (if thats a word) wiped it landed, feeling pretty dam good got some really good air off it. there was a car coming so i went faster and then all of a sudden my bike went it just gave up on me. my mate behind me told me that i did a flip and landed on my left knee.
and to make every thing even better it was at the start of the holidays, the rest of the 2 weeks i had left i was builting jumps that was ok or i was watching tv, but the worst thing is that you cant bend your knee so when you walk u look retarded.
