PRACTISE is the only way.
It's so hard to quantify it when you actually learn, but, umm... pull up front wheel, lift rear wheel with feet...
Ride around trying to lift the rear wheel with your feet, get used to the backwards-and-up sorta motion that's needed, then combine that with a wheelie of sorts and away you go.

How small are you and how big is your bike?

I have a small mate with a big bike, he cant bunnyhop his bike, but can bunnyhop something like a BMX.

ther are lots of ways people will tell u to hop. the way i used was to start poping the front then the back and just put them together into a rythm, but like rik said man just keep at it it will come 2 ya

I'm not the best at it at all, but how I do them:

*Lift up the front wheel,
*then straight after - kick your feet against the pedals

So like, lift then a kick/jump with your feet.

It's like how you would think it would be done, lift up then kick backwards..

I couldn't do it for a while, but I'm getting better at it now..

man i used to be like that but i have to say the thing that really helped me was actually going slowly and going into a manual when you pull up. dont just pull up but do the beginning of a manual and get your front wheel up really high then when your going to fall back, stand up high so that your pretty much vertical and donkey kick and youll do fine.

just make sure your getting your front wheel nice and high

want a better explanation..
'I think it goes something like this: Pick up some speed far away from the object, coast a bit, then at the right time, crouch down on the front of the bike, shoot the BIKE forward with your butt down so the front comes up a bit, then shift your weight forward and spring up off the pedals from your crouched position while the front comes up MORE. As you start to take off, push the handlebars up and out and squish your legs up, clear the object (imaginary object when practicing at first), then stretch your legs out to absorb the landing. It's like learning to trackstand, it takes a while to learn it, and no amount of great instruction is going to MAKE you be able to do it. Practice it and you'll eventually get it. Getting up onto bashguard is essentially the same as the pedal-up, as far as maintaining your balance goes.

Here's what Aaron Lutze had to say about it after practicing with Lenosky for a while -
"A lot [of the height in a bunnyhop] comes from pushing the bike out in front of you, so your bike levels off, instead of the front wheel higher than the back... Normally, I lift the front tire over the top then just push forward as hard and fast as I can..."
its the exact same theory as a ollie, up the front then back then kick forward for more height...
its all about practice when i first learnt how to properly bunnhop i couldnt do a gutter, now i can do about a metre, n on a trials biek 9 pallets to bashguard(and 1.4m high wall to bash) :P

BINGO! I know it's not going to be much help to the majority of you, but if you do skate or have skated before, think "ollie" and you'll be set. I used to be able to bunnyhop a little, then after I got back into it from skating it was a whole nother ballgame, all of a sudden the process made sense.

When you're learning it's going to seem likea completely foreign concept, then one day it'll just go "click" and you'll get the hang of your timing and bingo you got it. From then on it's just a matter of tuning your technique and putting in a bit more effort to get more height.

Hey guys,

http://www.bmxbasics.org/new/bmx0703.html

This link here is awesome! It helps breakdown the bunnyhop into component movements.
1. How to lift the front wheel
2. How to lift the rear wheel
3. How to put it all together
Well, it doesn't really explain the 3rd step all too well but as Lex put it, learn the two components and sort of put it together into a rhythm. When you start feeling the rhythm then it will come to you eventually!
