Paradox

I tried searching with no luck and was surprised there hasn't been any threads posted recently :(

I've just moved back to Adelaide after three years in Darwin and starting to get the urge to get back on the bike and do a bit of exploring. If anyone could give advice on where to head for some decent XC trails it would be much appreciated... I've got the Marion city council bike trails guide but advice from those in the know would be better.

I'm located in Dover Gardens and hoping theres some decent rides not too far from home.

Thanks.

Howdy. . . I'm gonna count this as a stab in the dark with the amount of activity on this thread. . . BUT. . Was hoping for a little help. I'm thinking about travelling from Melbs to Adelaide to do a spot of riding. I'll be taking only my fat bitch down hill bike and prob won't have access to a car. I hear a couple of tracks are accessable from the city? Firstly. . what would be the stand out tracks in Adelaide? Is the whole thing do-able without a car, and with a bike that is really only good at chasing gravity? I know here in Vic you're pretty much up the creek if you don't have some mates to give you a lift, or own a car.

THanks for any insight.

There are several "not so legal tracks" that many people ride. Just catch the train from the city to Belair and talk to the riders on the train, they are usually friendly and will show you around for the day.

^ as said above, belair train runs would be just about the only tracks accessable without a car or walk-up. There is always a few people riding them on the weekends, most of whom will be more than happy for you to tag along (provided you keep-up). All of the tracks are illegal, but as far as i know, you won't be stopped/fined etc.

There's a lot of XC trails and DH trails in Adelaide mostly not really legal. the closest mtb tracks to Dover Gardens would be flinders uni (XC) and sheperds hill (DH and XC). Also go to fox creek mtb (45mins out of city) and eagle mtb (15 mins out of city).

Watch out if you go by yourself on some belair tracks, bush walkers like to drag logs across tracks, which aren't fun at high speeds.

Some people have been fined, they were the ones stupid enough to stop though.

The legal tracks are better though.
