Yeah we're keen to run a NS-FR/TT race within the next 2-3 months at the Park.
Style, speed and no chicken run. :D
non-contenders need not apply!
Definitely a race for the more skilled rider of course so it would be a little harder for someone to walk off the street and enter on a Huffy but hey! I'll be entering so that should go some way in giving you an idea.(specially those who've seen my crash vids haha :D )
peachy

hey i think a lot of people would be keen for a freeride event for the locals. maybe you could have divisions such as pro, newb, hardtail.... i reckon if the price was right, and most people were welcome to join u'd get a lot of supporters. also, it would really do some good things for the mountain bike park. just my opinion

yeah red bull ride, maybe :D we plan on not having a big huckfest, moreso a technical track with different things :D different classes would be good. me on a hardtail(cant be beat) would have it hard to 8 inches front and rear. still trying to get permission from cycling qld. but hopefully track will start to be built in the upcoming holidays. we may have event sponsorship from bike companies if they love me :D

I know that Zoil was going to planning a freeride event here in SA, not sure what is happening or if it ever will. I think that insurance and finding a locatoin maybe problem.

yeah, but one in qld is in order. apperently mtb park is going to be kind of a huckfest, which is cool. but i reckon a track that throws out crazy shit is more fun, a more technical track, hucking is easy

Huckfest?? I think not. It will involve alot more than that. As you say - hucking is easy. If you wanna have a FR comp you've got to go big :D and think up some really crazy cool stuff. :D
That's the plan. :D

yeha, good to hear. some1 told me it was going to be a huckfest. ah well. yeah i agree u have to go big. but not for the whole comp. we are gonna have mainly 8-10 foot drops and hopefully like a 20 foot at the end to see who can pull it off. hopefully. depends if we get the numbers.

your best bet is to go through NSW cycling. ask around and get numbers to compete. this is the best bet to get one set up properly with insurance.

dude i think this idea of getting another freeride event other than RBRide was so "normal" riders can take part and have fun as an alternative/extra to racing.

i agree with sich nich. its about having fun, testing urself. not showing off how good u are to other people. invite only sucks. get ne1 who can ride a bike to have a go. that way u promote riding. the idea was to get normal riders to be able to compete in a riding event without the pressure of actual competition. so yeah. invite only sucks, dont do it

what kind of stuff will be in the www.mountainbikepark.com event?
hucks, skinnies, drops, seesaws (elevated, and turning :D (thanx Luke!))
Techhy and flowing but no so hard as to be "invite only" that would be pretty stoopid coz who would show?
People like us learners need stuff to trick on so we can get better and enjoy ourselves at the same time.
Save the "invite only" stuff for the big guys. 8)

i plan to get together some fella huckers to discuss the track. ideas are welcome, btu we need interest people. its ok to be a hucker. let it all out, calm urself whislte competing in a friendly freeride environment. first place gets some steak. wat a prize, nto shit steak, nicccccccccccccce steak, the shit ferrari drivers eat.(maybe not quite so expensive, but u get my point.)and a carton of ur favourite beer.
sounds cool anything local's a good idea.

pfffffffffff its for people who do not desire to go very fast, but would rather lift the front wheel off a drop and hang on. kinda technical side of mtb i guess, see saws and funny stuff. i have no idea how to explain it. help please. :D but coem along if it isnt too far. if ne1 has any ideas for the course they are greatly appreciated.

I'm all form a freeride comp but i'm a poor uni student from Townsvile, the land of the rock garden. So if it is on advertise it and please make it possible to do it on the cheap. i.e. camping grounds and a reasonable nomination fee. Variety is the name of the game, Drops, dirt jumping, north shore, steeps, the hardest stuff imaginable, there's only one way to get better and thats to push the limits. Also Cairns are holding a freeride comp in early Sept, should be cool.
