Well had a nice day out at Rob Roy, said hi to lots of farkin members, lots of dudes representing the hardtail class! FTF put on a good event, with a big turnout, my only problem was waiting ages for the race runs but there's nothing you could do about that. It just left you really cold on your race run and you got tired very quickly. Fergus (fastrider gus) rocked the hardtail class with his 7" of boxxer love and 3" tires, well deserved win. I got 2 decent runs out with a 1.39 and 1.38, probably about 6th. Steve (Socket) had a few mechanical troubles... Uhhh that'll do, i'm tired. I'll have a little video of myself uploaded in a minute...

Yeah it was a great turnout i thought!
organisation............well how many times do they have to call for riders to get on the transport ?? took a while to get going. I arrived at 11:30 expecting it to start very soon, nearly hour and a half later it gets going. Ahwell still a great event.

Shout outs to steve!! didnt see kalem or oz. My cam battery died sometime before the HT section (i think, hard to tell) so i left.

Ahhh that pic of me is before almost dying. Yes I stacked, yes it hurt, yes my time for that run sucked, yes it stripped a crank (how the fuck did it do that!), and yes I said yes too much. I landed exactly the same way I'm positioned in that pic, but about 4-5m further down into the gully... it hurterised.

01-06-2003, 10:37 PM
It was getting late, people were getting tired, going faster than they could handle, etc.

It's a damn hard landing when you launch off it tho... think about it, ya must be dropping well over 6 feet.

oz-freerider
01-06-2003, 10:40 PM

Like this guy :: he cleared it by heaps, yeah most generally did except those who braked off heaps of speed and a) went around or b) rolled over it, NO PHOTOS OF THEM!

You didn't have to stop, but some of those switchbacks (like the ones right before the second a-frame) were ridiculous.

it was such a good day for me
i rocked up with my dh'r and hardtail went over to the rego desk and the stupid woman said that rego closed three minutes ago and wouldn't let me farkin register. then she proceeded to tell me and my mate that you must have a full-face helmet and a kidney belt to race, while there were people in open face helmets with no armour on going down behind us. so i just went for a jump at st. andrews.

S.
02-06-2003, 09:59 PM
Kidney belt? Bullshit... fullface? Also bullshit.

But ya gotta admit, turning up at 11am is kind of asking for it!

have a cry they were good if u worked out how to take them with speed and pump them all u had to watch out for was the tree in the middle when u landed

Um, having watched some of Australia's fastest riders coming through there, I can say that no matter how ya hit it, going fast thru those switchbacks was pretty much impossible.

curtisrider
02-06-2003, 11:01 PM
yeah thats not the point she said thet you had to register befor practice strated and it had 50 minutes left. if you ask me she had no idea.

S.
02-06-2003, 11:04 PM
What the FUCK? Every single thing you got told was BS then... rego goes from 30 mins BEFORE practice to 30 mins before the END of practice (usually, and this was the case here - or should have been), you DON'T need a fullface, you certainly don't need a kidney belt (or any other type of armour bar a helmet)....

well as for any one having a sook......go home get on your road bike and have a lovly ride along the bike track, not every DH track can be perfect but eildon was about as close as they get, rob roy also for the lenght of the track was as good as it was going to get good to see a few options on a dh track.
