Chris McCormack led Craig Alexander home in an historic Australian quinella today at the Hawaiian ironman triathlon world championship.
McCormack took the lead for good during the marathon and won the 3.8km swim, 180km cycle and 42.2km run in an unofficial time of eight hours 15 minutes and 34 seconds, while Alexander crossed the line in 8:19:04.
The much-anticipated battle between McCormack and his German rivals Normann Stadler and Faris Al-Sultan did not happen.
In a day full of drama, 2005 champion Al-Sultan did not start because of illness.
Stadler also threw up during the bike leg before dropping out.
Triathlon filth but there aussie and we are the best!
Maybe the word spread round of a few random drug tests so alot of people pulled out:rolleyes:
