Anyone else see that tent/trailer/caravan that was on the new inventors this evening? What did you think? Would you use one for touring?

I'm off to find a link, be right back...................

EDIT - Found it, http://www.abc.net.au/tv/newinventors/txt/s2094544.htm

I saw it. It's an interesting idea, not dissimilar to our Aussie Swag camper trailer, and I'm sure the hardcore touring blokes on my other bike forum will be wanting to have a closer look.

I saw it. I think for touring, its fantastic! Off road, well I doubt you would have many decent trails wide enough to accomidate it other then say fire tracks etc...but for say rail trails, ideal!

Its funny that they didnt mention the tent part. Its actually called 'The Tent Ccot'...available at Anaconda stores (well at least we used to have them down at Bayswater) I wonder whether they realised it wasnt his idea...?
It was originally designed for safaris etc...for adventurers to sleep safely off the ground on their vehicles without wild animals 'pestering' them...
(Note how the brand on the tent is rubbed out...)

I was just watching it then.
Looks like an awesome idea, wouldn't mind getting one myself.
He should look at making a similar one for motos.

on a very long off-road tour many (many) years ago, I had plenty of hours to dream up a similar concept. Though mine was based more on a BOB trailer/Kimberly Kamper mutant(www.kimberleykampers.com/models/classic/classic_overview.php). Camper/tent unit, water storage, sun shade etc...

I like his general idea, and the fact that he used the ready-made, off the shelf tent unit, as that model is quite light and designed well.

But I'd be concerned about the ability of the trailer, suspension of not, to track decently behind a suspension bike on actual off-road singletrack. That's where the BOB shines.

Perhaps his trailer is more suited to the road/fireroad tourer?
