Just want to have a bit of a rant as I am extremely pissed off with Murphy atm. Anyway the story goes brought a yeti asr 575 very nicely speced out on Tuesday night. And had planned night ride with a few people on Thursday night, first real time I would have taken it out on the trails. Wasn’t going to be able to ride it on Wednesday night as I play touch footy. During the game last night some smartarse decides to ankle tap me instead of tap me, which he could of easily done. So I fell onto the ball where I hear my thumb go crack, no pain so I get up and it feels as thought I’m not holding the ball properly look down and my thumb is at a 45 degree angle holding the ball. Look closely at it and it’s obvious it’s not a dislocation. By the sound of things will need to put some wire in it tomorrow.

The worst part is not being able to ride my new bike. So when has Murphy’s law stoped you from riding your bike? And preferably not because of biking related injuries.

Earlier this year me and a friend decided to ride around australia on our motorbikes (drz 250's for the curious). Around 8 weeks prior to our departure date, I was out at the bmx track generally being a tool, when I came off and broke my hand, causing the trip to be delayed by a month. Eventually we set off, and survived a fair bit, including a much heralded 'typhoon' (it really wasn't that bad) and a few rediculous little crashes, prior to finally getting ourselves onto the tip of the cape york peninsula (from melbourne). Where my mate promptly broke his hand after crashing my bike in bulldust. Yes, he was riding my bike. His bike had a burst front brake hose, from him crashing it into a tree the day before, so we'd swapped steeds as it was deemed I'd cope without a front brake better. He got carted off to Melbourne shortly after, leaving me with two broken bikes in Laura (aka the original one horse town) for a week. It was a very long week, trying to get one working bike out of two broken ones, but eventually I got on my way again. A month later, when I arrived home I discovered my hapless friend had not only cut short his trip, but had bent his frame when he hit the tree, making his bike an insurance write off.

I suspect Mr Murphy's luck was having a wee laugh at us at times.

dunno going to the PA hospital today they might need to put some wire in it. Might ask if I can get a special splint/cast made so I can still ride :P

I got a similar story. Out riding DH and my mates were pushing me into this drop, since I was in the middle of doing my HSC (final school exams) I thought better not push it cuz I don’t wanna get hurt and miss my exams. Well, 3 days later just mucking around street riding I stacked it just doing easy stuff n shattered my wrist. ended up missing my last exams, having to get a bone graft from my hip to replace the shattered bone in my wrist and metal pins and wire to hold it all together and im in a cast for 10weeks and they reckon it will still be another 2-3 months before its strong enough to ride again. And ive finished school and cant work so I have nothing at all to do except sit around at home and pick my nose…

I had the reverse of Murphys law when my bike was stolen. We all agreed to ride to school on the day my bike got nicked, unfortunately i was the only one, or fortunately if you were one of the other blokes. Anyway, my bike gets stolen and thanks to them all having broken bikes, they got to keep theirs.

I picked up a new bike about 18 months ago. Picked it up on a tuesday, only got 1 short ride during the week. Saturday went straight from work to play hockey and got hit in the hand by the ball. Broken first metacaple (sp) 12 weeks off the bike.
