Ay guys,

Ive been looking at getting back into Street/Dj/4X for a few weeks now and ive narrowed it down to 2 bikes, 08 Specialized P2 or 08 Norco 125 im going to buy a bike 2moro eirther way ready for the weekend

Just wanted to know what you guys thought..?

I know they have about the same spec, But I do like the weight of the Norco And i spose the Specialized has some pretty trick bits on it like the New Hayes Ryde brakes.. And the Prices are almost the same..

I mainly want the bike for Street/Dj maybe Hit up some trails every now and again..

If anyone has any advice that would be a great help..

Cheers Dreamah ;)

although the 125 is nice.

The P2 for sure. Ive tested the 07 one and it was so smooth, and im sure the 08 can only get better.

i'd go the p2. One of my mates has an 08 model and it's it's pretty sweet but i'm not sure about the weight. another mate of mine has a 07 p2 and it's fairly heavy

Cheers,

my boss (at the bike shopi work at) said he weighed a p2 and a giant stp (regarded as very light yes?) and said that the p2 was lighter. i also own one and can say its a very sweet ride (07). paint job is sick and out there and the spec is reasonable (ill be pimpin with camo mtx rims soon) and the geometry is spot on (what would you expect when kyle strait puts input on the geo)
aww damn didnt realise you already got it... congrats it looks sweet. and yea those rims dont hold to abuse for very long, mine flat spotted easy peasy japanesy

Thanks alot for the help guys.. And yea I reckon I did make the right choice pretty happy with it so far..

I would probably swap over the pedals aswell if thats what you ment deak's?

The forks are DJ2's And they have been pretty damn good Handle good (Better then the drop off's I had on my Kona).. Perfect for Dj/Street And Light Dh i spose..?? havent really used the bike anywhere but park and a little dirt and it has been good.

As nick said the rims probably arnt the strongest. I already found that out when I bent a spoke on saturday.. So you were thinking going the Camo rims nick?? Whole new Wheelset of getting the Rim relaced to the Specialized hubs? Ive been looking abit and dont know which way to go with rims? Something that will holdup atleast :)

Cheers Dreamah

if you are looking for new rims, dont waste your money putting them on the specialized hubs. they are part of the problem. get a whole new wheelset with sealed hubs and for park/street rims either go for the Sun Ringle MTX's or the ryno lites. they are both great rims. by the way, sexy bike :p

No, ryno lites are terrible rims, they buckle and warp easy as anything and are not even close to the same quality as MTX rims. I would strongly advise "upgrading" to ryno lites.

Norco 125 for sure, strong and reliable.

WTF man, he bought the bike like a week ago. Are you just trying to make him have 2nd thoughts about buying that bike or are you just plain stupid and don't read through whole thread and don't read dates. For god sake even his avatar is of his new bike that he bought a week ago. Think before you post so you don't look like a total toole.

Sorry about that it just needed to be done. Anyway nice bike and I really like the colours on it. As for rims I think ride it till they break and then get a whole new wheelset, maybe some MTX's on Hope Pro 2 (expensive) would go nice. You can also get those both in heaps of colours. As for your decision...I think it was the right one, performance wise they are not that much different but i like how the Specialized is put together (frame) and is more unique as heaps of people have 125's now. Great bike, have fun on it!!!

yea sweet bike you made a good choice
with the new wheels if you have the money upgrade straight away if you dont just ride the rims till they break but remeber if you buy new wheels now or within the new future you can then flog off your old ones and get money for them where as if you total them you get no money from them,
for wheels if you dont care about weight i would go mag30's laced to tufneck hub they will set you back about 700 at a good lbs i run a rear mag30 laced to tuf neck it spins really well and it is strong, i would think probably stronger than a 729 and about 50 dollars cheaper but 2/300 grams heavier.

by the way sweet rig

Thanks guys.. Yea im pretty happy with it and the P2's Look the part ;)
And cheers for the heads up on the Rims. I will probably want to get rid of them in the next few weeks ill be pretty busy over the next few weeks so when I get some time ill go get a new wheelset.. Maybe might keep them for XC bike..? I duno yet (If anyone wants them give me a yell)

Huckeroo yea mate I agree with you the Specialized frames are pretty bloody trick.. Havent really given it harsh ride but seems strong and light.!!

Once again thanks all really appreciate everyones advice and tips

Take it easy guys

So we heard the bad points about the 2008 P2, (bad rims).
What are the bad points about the Norco 2008 125? Besides alot of people having them.
I was looking at the 125 but after reading this thread, im thinking P2?

Hi mate,
I reckon the rims would be fine for Dirt jumping but I reckon mine will start to hack up if i spend a heap of time ridding street on them.. Ive stopped at the moment just in case something does happend..
Then when I get new rims Ill go hard.. But for dirt jumping they would be fine I reckon.. Not going to lats for ever but they do seem reasonable strong..

The P2 is a good bike, I did have some problems with the brakes but that was sorted out by the store and now the bike is great.. Its your call though ;)

Cheers

Yea bought the bike before Xmas, Pretty happy with it,
Changed over a heap of gear on it but im really happy with it now, I do have to organise some rims though.

At this stage if no second hand rims come up that interest me, Im probably going to get some fire eye rims, with fire eye hubs :D (24")

If anyone has 24" 0r 26" street/dj rims that are basicly bomb proof, And wanting to sell im interested ;)

Last night I was looking into get a p2 or p.Grom:) I was just wondering if you have to change/fix/upgrade bits within about 2 months? Could you tell me how much you got it for and where?:D

Dreamah
19-01-2008, 10:51 PM
Paid 1500 for it at JT cycles Adelaide, been pretty happy with it, As I said in your thread ive gone single speed as I spend most time riding street/park.

I havent changed anything and mine would be coming up 2 months, Apart from the single speed ofcourse.

Put it this way, im happy I went with the P2 mate ;)

Cheers,
