Mate the best thing you could do is ditch the forks as they really let the bike down. I run Boxxer Teams on mine and they totally transformed the handling. Also swap the dual ring set-up for a single ring and a chain guide. You won't want to pedal this thing up hill and you certainly don't wont the chain coming off going down. I've had the same bike for 3 years and the only yhing left original is the frame and hubs. They are a great bike and will do you well for years to come.

it certainly is a nice bike. how much did you pay, if you dont mind me asking? but yea, ditch the forks and front rings, lets it down big time. but the absolute first thing gone should be the bars! get rid of em ASAP. but nice bike though mate

Yeh i dont mind telling how much it cost. The guy that only rid it once got it for $3500 and i got it for $1750 which is half that for a pretty much new bike. So i thought that was a good deal.

I got pretty much the same bike for similar price but have upgraded the important bits. See this thread

http://forums.farkin.net/showthread.php?t=104187

Are you sure your rear shock is only 2.5in? I am pretty sure mine was originally 2.75in and I have replaced the stock Fox with a 6 way with 3in stroke.

Definitely get rid of the front forks. I upgraded to 66 single crowns then to Fox 40s.
