Yeti Cycles Announces New Race Team

“We are very excited to announce our new team and look forward to a great year of racing ,” said Chris Conroy, Yeti Cycles’ president. “As in past years, we have added racers that we feel have tremendous potential to be the stars of tomorrow,” Conroy said.

Team Yeti will feature some of the best young racers in the world and will be coached by Scott Sharples (Australian National Coach and professional downhill racer) and Keith Darner, who won 3 national titles as a coach at Fort Lewis College.

Three Team Yeti riders - Justin Havukainen, Dave McLaughlin, Luke Strom - are products of Australia’s powerful junior program, which has produced the last 3 junior world champions and features some of the best young talent in the sport. Havukainen has dual citizenship and will race as an American this year. If he would have raced as an American last year, he would have been the top ranked American at the World Championships.Colorado native, Ross Milan, known for his lightning fast starts, will provide a potent punch in the 4X and DH. Scott Sharples, who has raced professionally for years, will raceDHin addition to his coaching duties.

Yeti Cycles has a long history in racing, winning the first World Championships and gathering numerous national and world cup podiums over the last decade. Racing has been the impetus for many of Yeti’s innovative designs in full-suspension and other race-specific designs. Yeti Cycles manufactures high-end, race specific bicycles at its production facility in Golden, Colorado.

I think half the reason justin is getting dual citizenship is because he's working ove there. He made aus proud last year by coming 3rd at the world champs in juniors. Everyone better watch out for those guys overseas. They're hell fast!

Umm scotts form from what i've seen isn't much anymore. Although when it comes to training he can really focus on it. He hasn't trained for years and he is still fitter than pretty much all of the aussie dh'ers. We'll just have to see, the riding has improved heaps scince he stopped racing as a pro.
