View Full Version : My new friends
A while ago I moved into a house with no shed :( so I've been storing some of my bike parts up on the deck.
I went to take some pics so I can sell some of it off and I found these little guys living in the box.

are they native? I wouldn't have thought they'd get along with a mongoose!

They scared the crap out of me, opened the box up and there a set of eyes looking at me.
Yeah brushtails are native... I was surprised because I'm only 5 min form Melbourne CBD. Apparently they are pretty much the only native animal that will happily live in man made environments.

I've had possums and stuff living in my roof, so i'm not really that surprised. I imagine it would have been pretty funny, i've got a similar story to tell.
I went for a ride and left the door to my shed open. Hour later I returned home and was about to put my bike back when a cat was in my shed! When it saw me it ran along the walls (defined gravity) and ran out the door and past me. Yeah it scared me shitless, but now I always remember to close the door :)
I'll take the possums and the box for $30 posted to my door?

We've got a resident in our shed roof, they ripped a whole in a box of old books and notes on welding, and chewed themselves a nice little nest. They don't seem to like it when the stereo gets turned up though...
On another note: is that one of those warranty replacement frames? I built one of those up into a mag-trainer bike with spare bits I had kicking around, too.

yep! they are really tough frames, a bit heavy but that = durability.
apparently they are quite comfortable, like a 7005 Gum Tree

My backyard is incredibly small with minimal trees, but recently a possum and it baby moved in. I was very surprised as it built a little nest in the most unlikely little bush.
Anyway, I tried to be a friend and go offer it some bannana one day. It was fairly blind and when it finally noticed me it ran away scaring the shit out of me causing me to drop the bannana. They are so incredibly fast and awesome climbers.
The sad news is I think I scared it away, I haven't seen it for a few days. Im surprised you could get such great pics, mine was quite hostile and anti-human.
