dual suspensions are usually a bit better (for most tracks, there are exceptions)
because they track bumps well round corners and of corse have a smoother ride but they are more expensive. Hardtails are lighter more pedal effecient and are more versatile.

Around Australia a majority of tracks would be better with a hardtail as they are quite smooth. It would be better if they were rougher with rock gardens and so forth. Anyway what tracks are you riding? If they are smooth HT are better but DS would be better on a bumpier course. It also depends how pedally they are. Very pedally (almost like a bmx track) then a HT would be better. A track that could pass as a DH track (i wish:rolleyes:) then a dually would be better.

HT is faster out of the gate because of the snap while a DS corners better.

If your just starting then you would simply be better off with a hardtail because the bike you get know is going to make jack-all difference to your performance than if you just practice. When you have more experience then it's differnet.

Hope that helped.
