Well I have one of these lying in my backyard so I thought I would post it up.

The Sinclair C5 was a battery electric vehicle invented by Sir Clive Sinclair and launched in the United Kingdom on 10 January 1985. The C5 took the form of a battery-assisted tricycle steered by handles on either side of the driver seat. Powered operation was possible making it unnecessary for the driver to pedal to make progress. It had a top speed 24 km/h, chosen because vehicles unable to travel faster could be driven without a driver's licence in the UK. (taken from Wikipedia)

My Grandfather imported about 10 of them and made vehicles for the disabled, when the company went broke it came extensivly hard to find parts to replace the broken ones, so he took them away and began to modify them extensivly.

The one I have in my backyard has two motors and two batteries (opposed to the original one motor and battery) and we think it could go about 50kmp/h.
It also has had a mod to have a reverse gear and an actuall stearing wheel (looks nothing like the one in the pic) and will get some of the actuall one up soon.

My question is does anyone have one/ know someone that does as I need some new bearings/brakes for it.

If not it will be getting chucked so if anyone wants it pm me.

Seriously, hold on to it there are some fanantics in the UK that would probably kill for pieces of that thing. Sir Clive invested everything into that contraption and went from millionaire to pauper in one fell swoop. Great idea far too early, given the fact I paid over $1.42 for fuel today it really doesn't seem that bad. Really that C5 may be worth a few quid in the future, then again.....:)

You are fucking shitting me, I haven't seen one of those in years! I'm surprised they even made it over to these shores.

If I could justify the transport costs to Melbourne, and the space it'd take up in the lounge to my housemates I'd be on that baby like Jennifer Kyte on a Coke bottle.

pad it out a bit, stick an esky next to it and it'd be the coolest PS3 chair...

not far wrong, Clive Sinclair was the same dude behind the ZX Spectrum. A veritable cross of Bill Gates and Henry Ford (but just a tad shit ;))
