I purchased the frame off bikedude for a very good price:D(cant understand why no one offered more for it than me) The general idea is to build this up for a sensible price<$600. It has progressed further than the photo shows, it now has super Ts,cheapo cranks, basic wheels &cross country stem. the stem makes it pretty unridable as it phttp://forums.farkin.net/photo/data/500/medium/PICT0033.JPGuts the weight to far past the fork

Wait the whole thing for under 600? How much are you up to now?

It probably could be done. I got a set of really sweet Goodridge-equipped Hayes Nines for $160 a while ago...
...drivechain can be made fairly cheap...especially if he buys from the one seller, things like chains and so on can be chucked in as extras...I think its do-able but you wouldnt be getting components of the best of condition/quality...
..get rid of the stem quick because...damn!...Husselfelt stems are fairly common as a cheap extra...yeah, I guess it could be done...at a stretch...

Hi there guys, I am back with photos that are as recent as today. the bike has changed a great deal since the first photo, additions such as the super Ts have made it start to look like a real downy bike;). I realise that the cranks are not made for DH but they were canabalized from an old bike i had laying around, they are in good cond and should last a bit. As you will also see the seat mast has changed colour as have the handle bars, a nice mica blue, I did not seal the metallic paint because i want it to fade a bit with time. The stem is the one real dud part on it as it making it to f*^%$# to ride, I guess having no chain on it stops me being stupid:D. More to come with time but this bike should be up and running by next week, well under budget at the moment. thanks for the support guys

That blue is so bad and clashes so much that it looks good.
Good luck with the rest of the build.

wher did you buy those super t's from, and how much, because you said your budget was pretty tight.
frame $25(bikedude was sick of it sitting there) super T's $250 wheels $70 seat pole bb and" FTR " work $120 rear der, shifter and cranks+pedals(had them spare) lets say $50 bars $10. The bike will be up and running today although with cheapo parts, as they break(if) I shall replace them. brakes are the last thing to put on and I am pretty sure I will get them for under $100. I have taken the bike for a few rolls(no chain til today) and "by f*@#" it feels real plush, i think the D8s may not be real easy to pedal(pretty active)
