Hey

I have a problem with my iPod. 5th generation i think. I am wanting to restore it, reformat, delete everything off of it's hardrive and start over because it's happened to me before and i need to reformat it. However, it dosn't want to connect to the computer (windows).

I plug it in, and the whole computer pretty much dies. No commands go ahead and everyhting stops. but when i unplug it, everything starts up. Does anyone have any suggestions how to reformat it? I heard there's a configuration menu but i'm not sure how to open it. Does anyone have any ideas?

Ps. i have restared it.

mmmm, sounds like a typical windows problem here. if you havn't already, connect the ipod to a mates computer and it should recognise the different computer and reset itself to suit the different computer. failing that, try connecting it to a mac computer as the different operating system (better by far) could also enable you to solve your problem.

You might need to fork out the money for a new one. iPod tends to make their products like that. If it stuffs up, generally its gonna cost less to get a brand new one rather then fix the old one. E.g, im pretty sure getting a new battery installed costs more then buying a new iPod.
Good little things though =]
