Ok so my good bike was put out of action for 6 weeks (thank you clarence street cyclery!!!!). So i thought i would pull out my old kids bike. After a dusting off and ride around the block, i discovered that it's in pretty good condish.

first off i spent 2 or 3 hours taking off everything that: increases weight/gets in the way/looks bad
After that: http://s234.photobucket.com/albums/ee243/highten/?action=view¤t=CIMG0852.jpg
The next week i decided to go single speed. Having no previous bicycle modifacation knowledge. I set about going to my local LBS. They gave me the diagnosis:
spacers and new 16t ring - $40
new chain- $20
labour - $20
total - $80
obviously this was to much. So i went home. Sat around sulking for half an hour, then thought this is crap. I pulled out alll the tools i had, and set about converting my bike to single speed. I took the rear derailler, and rear shifter off. But because i didnt have spacers or a 16t ring, i left the cassette on. I then relised that you cant pedal with a completly crapped out chain. So i spent $20 dollars on a new chain.
I then decided that i would ride this bike to school.
Because the cassette was completly worn out i quickly relised that i would be refitting the chain constantly (which isn't simple on this bike it involves taking the wheel off).
My friend had a almost unused giant MTX. Because it had a completly crapped out frame i decided i wouldn't take it to school. I took the wheel off the MTX cassette and all and put it on my releigh (would you beleive the wheel was a 36 hole).
Heres the MTX: http://s234.photobucket.com/albums/ee243/highten/?action=view¤t=CIMG0863.jpg
And the releigh after the new wheel: http://s234.photobucket.com/albums/ee243/highten/?action=view¤t=CIMG0860.jpg
the cassette: http://s234.photobucket.com/albums/ee243/highten/?action=view¤t=CIMG0861.jpg
the whole drive side: http://s234.photobucket.com/albums/ee243/highten/?action=view¤t=CIMG0862.jpg
Should i take any other parts off the MTX?? The forks are alright, im taking the pedals, and maybe the stem, and eventualy ill take the front wheel off when the current one dies.
Now im going to respray my bike. I haven't done it before so i picked up a random bike on the street that had been abandoned, im going to respray it and donate it to some charity.
Heres that bike. What should i spray it?: http://s234.photobucket.com/albums/ee243/highten/?action=view¤t=CIMG0864.jpg
And what should i spray my releigh?
Im thinking something like a very dark purple, then light green on the stem, bars, and fade the purple halfway down the chainstay to the light green.
