Well I am kinda new here and have been building my bike for a while - I thought i'd post it up! It is an 06 GT i-Drive 5 1.0 with:

- 06 Fox Float 120 RL's
- 06 XTR dual control shifters
- 06 XTR F & R Derailleurs
- 06 XTR Calipers (8" adapter for front)
- XTR Pads
- XT Crankset, rings & BB
- SRAM (something) chain
- SRAM PG990 cassette
- 8" front, 6" rear rotors
- 06 Mavic CrossMax SL Disc
- Maxxis Highroller 2.35 60a
- Hussefelt Bars
- Token 80mm Stem
- Syncros Derived Post
- Ritchey headset

When the Maxxis run out, i'll be going tubeless, probably in a 2.10.

All this comes in at just under 14kg, which is not too bad for an All Mountain of this design so I am told.

Runs real well out on the trails and decends far better than the XTC I have (now a commuter), and climbs surprisingly well!

Thanks go to the mates who helped in the assembly, and for Pete and the crew at Morayfield Rd Super Cycles www.mrsc.net.au for their advice and assistance in finishing off the bike and helping with parts!!!

Cheers, Dave.

Comments?

Upgrades?

Faaaaaarr out that is nice! Bit different to your old XtC LE yeah?!
Tell me, is that a standard Float rear shock? What has become of your front rotor? (Man, its like a game of 20 questions!)

Awesome ride never the less! Ride her well!

Ahhh - thanks mate. A totally different kettle of fish to the XTC!

It is the standard Float rear - i'll give it a couple of months riding, then consider whether it is worth upgrading or not.

The 8" - well... I had a different wheelset on there (from the XTC) which had centrelocks. I was given the opportunity to get the Crossmax's for a VERY good price, so snapped them up. They are a 6 bolt mount, so will be getting a new rotor tomorrow ready for the weekend.....

Any more questions? hehe

Dave.

Very, very nice.

Not personally a fan of Dual Control, but if it works for you then that's cool.

A few armchair expert suggestions if I may:

Drill out the cable stops (yes I'm serious) (not the last one for the front mech of course) and run full length housings.
No change in shifting performance, huge benefit once things get muddy though.

Interesting front mech cable routing. Can probably afford to lose 2-3" of housing between the swingarm + mainframe.

Try dropping the stem, swapping the spacers to above it after a few rides, you'll be pleased at the extra cornering stability / climbing traction / more aggressive stance, and you'll only have to hang back a smidge more on the steeper stuff.

See how much you use the grannyring.
Not much?
Ditch it.

Thanks for the comments there. Umm yeah - I guess I am not the fittest person in the world, and in the areas I ride there is quite a bit of steep uphill, so the granny will stay for a little while I think hehe.

I guess it is all about set up from here on! I know it is not going to be perfect out of the box, but that is half the fun!

Dave.
