This is my first bike after a long break from cycling.
I bought my first MTB in 1989 - a Giant Yukon.
Next was a 1991 Marin Bear Valley SE, 1996 GT Zaskar and 2000 Specialized Stumpjumper.

Coming back from overseas, I decided to start riding again.
I bought the Trek from a store where I knew lots of the staff.
I am not a fan of Trek bikes, but got a huge discount.

It was intended to be a starter bike to get back some fitness before I upgraded to something better.
But I have had it for more than a year now and loving every minute of it.

BTW, I am not sure that this belongs here with such nice DH and all-mountain bikes.
It is my only bike at the moment.
It is used as a commuter and weekend trail bike.

Comments welcome.

Below are pics from new (and stock) to current state -

Thanks - I love the Rebas. They are the best fork I have ever used.

Geeze! It has come along way hasnt it! Love it!

Just one thing, doesnt the pop-lock lever sit under the bars? Or is that just a preferance thing?

Ride her hard mate!

Thanks for the comment.
Most pine forests seem to look the same...
It is actually the bottom gate at Sparrow Hill.

I thought so too. My LBS put it on the right side and on the top of the bar.

I have seen pics of some Rock Shox test riders with them over the bar on the right (see below).
It works okay in that position.
But it is quite uncomfy as I am a lefty.

I will have to change it over to the correct side. :D

Thanks for the comments.
Here is an updated pic - pop-loc on the left and new DMR grips (nice!).
It was taken at Tuggernong Pines today - some really nice descents there.

I'm not usually a fan of Trek's, but that looks like a really nice ride! Beautiful XC setup. I like your tyre combo in the latest pick...Larsen's set it off on the rear I rekon :D

It's a different setup to the last batch of piccies. Do you change your tyre setup often?

Yeah - I change the tyres often. :D

Each piccie has a different set-up:
1. Z-Max WCS (R) - IRC Serac XC (F)
2. Fast Trax D2 (R) - Z-Max WCS (F)
3. IRC Mythos Slick (R) - Larsen TT (F)
4. Larsen TT (R) - Fast Trax D2 (F)

I am now running a Michelin Comp S Light on the front.
And have a four more in the cupboard to try.

Am I obsessed with MTB tyres?
Not really - I am still trying to find the "perfect" set-up for me.

There's a good idea. I run a combo for almost a whole season to see how it performs long-term, but (obviously) I don't get to sample much merchandise :(

"Change often, and with intent" should be my catch phrase. Pity I can't afford it!

There are bargains to be had. I only use kevlar beaded tyres and have never paid more than $40 for one. Obviously I do not shop at the local bike stores... Online stores in the US and eBay are great. :)
