as in moto whip? Try pulling your bars to one side and pushing your legs out to the other

Found this
basic whip
1. approch jump at normal speed
2. just as you leave the lip turn the bars slightly to the side
3. as the rear wheel leaves the lip push your legs out to one side and keep the bars turned
4. as you come in to land pull your legs back in and your bars level
5. land
Question...do you turn the bars towards the side you are flicking the tail out to or the other?

I can turndown, but I can't whip. Strange...I turn the bars left, and the back of the bike goes left as well. If you turn left, the bike is meant to go right, and vice versa.

and let me guess?you practice turndowns more than whipping it out?for a whip you are more steering the bars to one side and whipping the ass out to the other as your preloading up,when you go for a turn down imo you more lay the bars down when preloading, its hard to explain but its slightly different movement with the bars thats all,if you can do one you should be right doing the other, really its all bike time, ride, ride, ride, just like everything else in life, once you do it enough it just becomes second nature,
goodluck man;)
Whipping is a very similair techneque to doing a cutty on the ground...

Learning to jump up gutters to the right helped me learn how to whip to the right... I think.
Now, how do you get it to come back in again?

what i do: i just do a half flatti and kick it out then push forward on the bars to get it to come back in.

its similar to doing a tailwhip, if you tilt the bars left with them still facing forward (the downramp), the back of the bike will swing out to the left, and the same for tilting to the right.

jump on a 16" and try truning on the lip then the whip should just come out but then to land sraight pull back wheel back in. do not turn to hard or you will start to 180/360. then thry on a big bike
hopfully this helps

How i learnt to bring them back was, if you naturally can kick out to the left try kicking out to the right and then you can bring it back after aswell. What also helps you do this is if you're left foot forward whip to the right and vice versa if you're right foot forward. Then in no time you'll be whipping it out 90 degrees and landing straight.
cheers dave

Yep it came natural to me as well or by acident i was just starting to practice doing x ups and when i whiped out so it the just sorta happened after that dont even need to turn the bars anymore. Its all in the legs.
