Funn Souljam's. I have been using for the past 2 years on every bike ive owned and never had a problem with them. Grip like crazy, can take a battering from rocks and the pins seem to last much longer than other pedals i have tried.

Mate has the holzfelar and they are brutal. They have really skinny long pins and are insanly grippy. The only down side is that you can bend the pins over.
I have CrankBrother 50 50xx and they bearings are fairly screwed but they are super grippy and nice colour range.

I think AMB did a test a while ago on a bike with Holzfeller pedals and they said good things about them.

I voted before I asked, but..., what bike and style of riding?

I used the Sojams for DH and would never want for anything better. For my street/DJ/trail bike I use Sun/Ringle ZUZU's and they were perfect too.

I ride a hardtail and id say im a fairly smooth rider (i hope). I'm am more into downhill than any thing else at the moment but i am building some trails so id like to spend some time on them too but also like the odd street ride. But im fairly sure soljams are the way to go after reading bad things about 50/50s.

And would it be worth getting the sealed ones?

IMO, Bilt pedals from www.dhdirect.com.au are amazing pedals and an awesome price.

I run Woodman spikeys on my dually & Snafu sealed concave on my Trials & would recommend both. There's an unsealed Snafu for about $60 or so.

I've got some DMR V12 mags, mostly XC ish type riding (just trails with some small jumps / drops). I find them great, but I hear they aren't the best for big feet, wouldn't know as mine are about a size 8.5. I would certainly consider buying the V8's.

The V8's come with the grease syringe right? Would they be better system than a sealed bearing design because your can just keep pumping fresh grease in? Compared to the V12's which are sealed and basically run until the bearings die in which case I assume you just buy replacement cartridge bearings?

I had a pair of Dice Outlaw sealed bearings pedals (new for about $40 on ebay) in which one side became noisy withing 3-6 months. The Mosh bikes half step ($35) on hubby's bike are already developing play on the rhs after just 6 months of not that much riding.

The V12 Mags have probably been used for about a year now and still run well, been bashed a bit on rocks too so a little scuffed but that's about it. Seems like you do get what you pay for.

If you tend to bend pins I'd get whichever set removes them from the outside (picking out dirt out of the holes is better than having to try & remove a bent pin through the pedal body itself).

lol @ 5050s.

If you can afford 5050s, just get the best pedal out there...the Easton Flatboy. I ran them for about a year and they were perfect. Bearings were still perfect when I sold them, platform was an awesome size for my size 14.5 shoes, super grippy and just generally awesome.

I love the look of the 50-50's and im getting my self a pair soon. Ridden the holzerfellas and they were grippy as hell. I had dmr v8's on my old bike and imo they are too small and not very grippy. Stay clear of those suckers.

Or what about the new primos. I just brought a pair for $100 and they look good, feel good, are super grippy and are made of magnesium so they are super light aswell.
