I use a car radio transmitter in my car to listen to my ipod while driving.
Currently I have the FM frequency on 94.7.
Yesterday driving through Artarmon (which I know has some main transmitters in Sydney) the reception went nuts. Also sometimes I pick up random broadcasts on this frequency.
What frequency would be the emptiest or best to set the system up with in Sydney? What do others use?
I usually use something around the 87 mark, iirc 87.5 is the current one. Though in coffs there was a radio station around that frequency but it didn't matter aslong as I had the ipod as close as possible to the radio.

Sometimes I put my car aerial down so that it picks up less external noise.
It still picks up the transmitter fine of course.

You want it as close as possible to the antenna.
I put mine on 88.7. RARELY (as in easily countable on one hand in the months i've owned it) have I ever got crappy reception unless the battery is going.

i have mine on the mid nineties frequencies down in hobart, but when i was in QLD, i had all 6 of my FM presets tuned to different ranges to avoid the cross frequency contamination.
If you travel a fair distance, you might need to assign a few presets for way points on your trip.
freq a for sydney cbd, freq b for north coast, freq c for where ever, etc
