Here's one...
Everyone that does it gets injured one time or another, be it serious or minor.
Why does it matter anyway?

Im going to agree with Plow King on this one.
yeah i agree with plow king but seeing as i had a shit year last year i feel like i need to vent this to someone... i only rode for 4 months last year due to two broken collar bones, a broken toe and having surgery 5 times...i feel better now
EDIT: nobody probabaly cares but i just needed to let it all out

What i'd like to know is the percentage of riders riding road that are fatally injured in a year in comparison to motorists that are fatally injured in a year.
I think it was 14 cyclists were killed in NSW in 2007, compared to ~250 motorists.
Yet the numbers of cyclists, compared to the numbers of motorists on the roads, whilst a lot lower, the fatality rate per capita (is that the right word?) is so much higher!
I'd just be interested to know the stats.
Oh, and the critical injury rates of road cyclists to downhillers.
Anyone know all of that off the top of their head?

Then factor in how many of those deaths were caused by motorists.
With regards to injury in extreme sport.
Smaller the wheeled objects (eg. skateboards, rollerblades) more injuries, less severe
Larger wheeled (eg. mountain bikes, motorbikes) less injuries, more severe
This is a general rule with some exceptions
