I have been to the Stromlo mountain park alot. The facilitys are good, but are lacking trees and shade. With day's of 35+ heat, I find it hard to except that if you wont to put a tent over the weekend, it is going to cost $200

Get Heat stroke or empty you wallet, not good options....

In the past as long as tents were away from the finish area there was no problem, we set our tent on up over the back of 3 vehicles in the car park like a lot of other riders. The problem then becomes the walk from the overflow car park if you do not get there earily. Hopefully this time there will be transport from the overflow car park.

Transport to get you 200m? You've got to be kidding.

I have been to the Stromlo mountain park a lot. The facilities are good, but are lacking trees and shade. With day's of 35+ heat, I find it hard to accept that if you want to put a tent over the weekend, it is going to cost $200

There are 4 zones for tents at the National Champs. The 2 zones within the "carpark" on the uphill side of the pavilion are where you pay to be there - one for larger retail activity and the other for people who just want to get some "advertising" exposure (the $200 zone referred to by never2old). No car parking in the retail area and you can park a vehicle in the paid advertising area, but only if it fits within your allocated site, and no moving it during the competition hours of the event.

There is a free zone for club tents (not displaying brand advertising) on the grassy knoll to the north side of the pavilion. This is where most of the pairs and threes camped at the Scott 24Hr. No car parking in this area but you can drop off gear from your car outside of competition times, then return your car to the parking area.

The free area to the north of the event centre (the cleared grassy slope where teams of 4 and 6 camped at the Scott 24Hr) will be available for camping), parking and branded team tents for those who do not want to get any exposure.

A map of this will be available shortly. Our aim is that the overflow parking near the main Stromlo entrance gate will only be used for day visitors. Competitors and those who want to stay overnight will have their cars closer to the event centre.

From any of these established areas (not the overflow car parking), if you have to walk 200m to get to the event centre, then you need more practice walking in straight lines :)

From memory, this is a similar arrangement (except its cheaper) to most national rounds this season.

As the MTB nationals will be actually running in two weeks what ever info that has to get out needs to already out.

And any track repairs that need to be done my guess is that they should have been done by now.

The 4x track in particular needs urgent attention. The erosion gullies swallow bikes, the sand on the track is like hitting a brick wall and if it happens to rain on 4x day... well with no drainage you can see where the water has previously pooled on the track.

I know that the CORC organisers were also hoping for turn 2 have some work done on it.

As a World class facility I'm assuming the track will be repaired before the event. Just makes practice a bit of a waste if there will be changes before the Nationals.
