Cant seem to find the chart I was shown on the 08 x1.
Im 180cm (think thats 5'11 in the old scale) and weigh 82-85kg.
What is the difference between the medium and large? Thanks.

My advice would be medium.
I'm 185cm, 80kg and have a medium reign. For all mountain it's perfect, for XC it's a tad too small.

Thanks Egg.
Its a bit confusing for me as I was told medium and have yet to actually sit on the bike (Saturday's the big day). I have heard its easier to throw the bike around. Is it a case of smaller the better for maneuverability. In which case would apply more to the downhill than uphill. I don't want to just ride DH.
Its not that I don't trust what the shop has told me as Im new to the modern bikes, I just wanted to know what others have experienced. Thanks

Im 183cm and ride a large X0 with a 50mm stem. stock its a 75mm i think. the difference between the medium and the large is about 20mm in length (top tube and wheelbase).the medium would be better for throwing around but i think the large is better for XC and in some cases DH racing. For XC the longer top tube is less cramped, and for DH the longer wheelbase makes it more stable, so better at speed, easier to drift. so you could ride either. just figure out whether you want the more flickable ride of the M or the stability of the L. and if you get the L get a short stem.
At 5'11 your right on the border line, so it comes down to whether you prefer a slightly larger ride or not. You'll only know for sure by spending a bit of time riding on both and deciding what feels right.
Im 6'2 and the large feels perfect for me, but some guys I ride with (they're 5'9-10) think it feels like a bus, so ride both before you decide which one.

Thanks. I will get a ride on a large this weekend. The info has helped. Not sure if it makes a difference but I've been riding moto's for many years and am used to throwing a bit of weight around and thought this may also make the medium feel a little small. It also may not make any difference. Thanks again.
