could anybody tell me the best brake setup?

i'm thinking fly brakes with odyssey slic cable odyssey m2 lever. (small 1 finger lever)

would that be good?

also are the odyssey slic cables the best or are there better now? thats what i used to run on my bmx but i've been mtb for a few years now so i'm not sure anymore.

thanks for anyhelp.

Calipers: Ive heard odyssey evo 2's are the nicest calipers out, id like to try them

Cable: odyssey linear, the one and only.

Lever: Colony, despite its cost, people say its feel is great

Fly, demo or evo 2 brakes.

Oydssey linear slic cable. Make sure its linear (shadow animal and who ever makes them.. all the same)

Lever.. the M2 is for gyros.. it has dual uppers. You want just a Odyssey monolever.

m2 is for gyro...

the best brake setup would probably be fly brake, colony transformer lever and a nokon cable.. thats about $304

a cheaper setup fly brake, odyssey monolever, odyssey linear cable..

After setting up a 9 Dragons caliper I thought it felt easily as good as Flys, it not stiffer. Haven't heard anything but good reports about their pads as well, and they're Australian to boot.

aah well thats good. i was thinking about a gyro anyway.

what are the snafu gyros like? i wouldnt mind trying one. and what cables would i need in the case of a gyro?

a mate has evo 2's (on a brand new bikeso there set up well) and they dont grip nearly as well as fly's. feel great at the lever but no bite.

thanks for the help.

No don't get a Odyssey cable, get a Shadow Conspiracy cable. All my friends who run brakes run them.

They are better because the Shadow cables have a teflon cable and a teflon casing wich makes it slide a whole lot better. Odyssey only have a teflon casing.

They're not cheap, off the top of my head I think we've got them stickered at 159 or thereabouts? They're damn light, and majorly stiff though.
The pads are good too, cheaper than Koolstops and by all reports shit all over them performance wise too.

One of the best things is the product support though. One of our regulars bent a 9 dragons sprocket last week, and today I showed it to Julian when he was in and he replaced it (with the beefier model) on the spot.

Apparently they want 9 Dragons to be a premium product, and they're willing to stand by their stuff. Seems good to me.

I believe the site is getting constructed as we speak.

We've got sprockets in black and red ano, but have only had the brakes in black so far, they might be available in red too though, I'm not sure.

Edit: I just stumbled upon the website, and yeah it is under construction; I know it is actually coming along though.

Australian Owned! These brake pads are the first product to come out of 9 Dragons, and they are much like the Kool Stop Supra's.

So sick! Stop on a 10c piece sick.
Black only.

$18.99

ok i'm going to run a gyro. (snafu)

is there any like gyro plates for a kink releif or any that arent for a specific stem. i guess its not a big problem i can just get frame tapped and get gyro mounts put in but it would be easier.

is this all i need?

Ok you dont need a upper cable. Thats what makes the m2 lever special.. it comes with a gyro cable!

And you dont need a fly hanger, from the bottom lower cables, one side goes to one brake arm and the other side goes to the other brake arm.
