FORKS: Rockshox pikes 459
BRAKES: avid juicy sevens
BARS: EA50 maybe?

CRANK: holzfeller (maybe?)
CHAIN GUIDE: e 13
TYRES: holyrollers
SEAT AND POST: havent a clue something ill find once built

Have you bothered pricing it all up yet? Or even done any research further than just looking at magazine pictures saying "I want that"?

A stp0 or pro sounds like your dream build... haha i feel sorry for you :p
Serious now, if you are building it up make it a build worth while, the one you listed is pritty plane and its a STP.
Keep looking for frames.
Also why are you so keen to keep the gears?
EDIT: Also have a look at the blk mrkt mob, they have a option of all that gear shiz on them if you wont.

i roughly did the sums to be anywhere around 3 to 4 thousand and im ok with that thankyou, ideally i wouldnt base on an stp just finding the right frame

and the gears, i live on a mountain to cut long story short, i only want a 9 speed

Yeah or buy a jackal frame and make the deadliest weapon/doomsday machine with lasers attached to its bars with the ziiinnnngggg! and the zaaannnngg!:cool::cool:...jackal.
not with the xo and the juicy sevens you cantI'll think you'll find that the extra $hundreds to upgrade to these components is just pointless dick pulling at the end of the day. Who wants a stupidly expensive derailleur hanging off the back of their street bike? Just buy an X0 when you smash the X7. Then we can laugh at you.
Hmm, that said, most "critique my spec list" threads are pointless dick pulling anyway...

$3000-$4000 for a street/dj?
for that you could build a dh bike!
You dont need an sram xo for a dj rig either
and you definetely dont need juicy sevens!
Have you aked mummy yet?
To be honest you could build a second hand bike, to an acceptable spec, not a OMG I GOT SRAMZ X0 COS ITZ DA BESTEST, I have an alivio drivetrain on my bike, i can use a screw driver and chain lube, i can ctually maintain it so there is nothin wrong with it.
Maybe you should do a search and read up on th thread about bikes and placebo effects

its my money i have worked for i have already said it will be used as a general bike not strictly DJ and definitely not hardcore DJ ive had the X9 and loved it so i decided i would try the X0, lighter faster sexier
and no offense alivio runs like crap

...Those are your reasons? Tch, $400 for gearing that's like 15grams less than x9.
Alivio is excellent for how much it costs.

dude wtf.. might aswell buy an ezzteepee.. basially same spec for alot less. then you can swap the frame if you choose.
a general bike shouldn't cost $3000-$4000
might aswell buy a car :p

Alivio runs shit does it? mine works perfectly fine. Why? i can use chain lube and a screw driver. If you can justify spending $400 to save 15grams and looks better when your old x9 runs perfectly fine, well you honestly need to wake up a bit.
Is there anything wrong with your current bike? What is it/what spec is it? i bet you could get a new frame, and upgrade the parts you want, and get some money back from selling your old parts......That will help your post count as well

So your wanting pretty much a stp with juicy 7's and a fucking pointless derailuier, In all seriousness the x.9 and x.0 are the same excpet for the carbon.
I have used both and realy can't tell the diffrence and i have gone through my fair share of derailuiers. I bought a x.9 and have run it on my bike for close to a year and it has taken a pounding and is still straight, and if i wouldv'e been running x.o it wouldv'e shat itself by now.
X.0 + Street bike = Fail
But i can understand the brakes i do run a pair myself and they are nice.

thats a fair point chuckie, and finally someone who sees the bloody point of sevens
Everyone knows that 7's are good brakes. It is just that you seem adamant on spending a truckload of money for what will eventually be an stp, albeit with juicy 7's.
Buy an 2008 stp pro. Swap out the stock brakes for juicy 7s. Done & dusted.
And stop being such a pain in the arse.

That pretty much sums it up! I will also second the notion though that alivio does not run like shit.

+ 1. The shifts might not be as subtle as higher end mechs, but for a street bike you don't really need to be shifting that much anyway.
What's the main advantage of 7s over 5s? Is it the pad contact adjust? Something which can easily be set on the 5s by taking the wheel out and squeezing the brake, playing around until you get it right ;)
Unless there's some other difference, I dunno... I did buy 7s the other day though, mainly 'cause they're black instead of silver :o

Yep just what I was thinking the whole time i was reading this thread.
99% of derailleurs will work nearly as good as the next if they are undamaged (by this i mean bent not scratched), clean and set up properly.
And liam2051 just buy an stp pro and upgrade, it will come in well under 4 grand, a new frame if you want one down the track but I'm not suggesting that you should upgrade similar things just for looks.
What happens when you have puled together every cent you have and built you bike then smash up your fancy X0 without a dollar to your name, and if your that concerned about weight on a DJ bike just go single speed.
If you are seriously willing to spend ~300 dollars more on just your shifter and drive train then you are earning waaay too much money.
Plus you can always convert your X9 to an X0, just take a dump before you ride.

Yeh theres a massive price diffrence,
I reckon you should just buy a pro and sell the juicy 5's and get some 7's and when it does die get a new drive train.
It will come in cheeper and you can do it up as you see fit,
Good luck mate.

No, you don't see the point. You posted a thread asking for opinions on your planned spec list. Then people pointed out the fact that what you were planning was essentially an STP with new brakes and derailleur, yet you are adamant that it is NOT! an STP and anyone who says otherwise will be told on to your mummy. Then you say something entirely irrelevant like "oh I'll just get a Jackal frame then", as though it justifies your stupidity and the money you plan to spend on a derailleur and brakes (it doesn't, by the way). Finally, you've had too much of being proven wrong, so write something like "what-everrrr, I'll do what I want!" because you didn't want our opinions in the first place, but rather just wanted to tell us what your fully sick new bike was going to be (I say was, because after this post you will realise your planned spec list was in fact nothing more than a slightly upgraded STP identical to all the other slightly upgraded STPs out there) so that we could all bow down to you and your awesomeness.
Still with me?
So, as I was saying, it is you who doesn't get the point. For your benefit, I will outline the point clearly...
Concentrate now, you wouldn't want to miss it again...
You're an idiot
If you're reading this, you missed the point again and have gone too far. Head back up a line and look for the part where it say's you're an idiot.

Hey man, i would go get a stp pro new i have and though i havent thrashed it yet i have tested it and had a good talk with the local bike shop about it and it has an amazing spec list. If your willing to spend 4k on one you could get one for $2500 and have another $2000 left.
And with all the gear one it it is the lightest bike i have ever felt, yet a lot of the parts are DH based.
Hope this helps.

No, don't go too hard on him it was useful info.:)
But one of the requirements of information for it to be truly useful, is TIMELINESS.
I could tell you how to be a millionaire from the stock market in one week (but it would be using last week's dated info). This week that info is only useful as a fish wrapper.
The idiot has been banned, and the same ideas have been suggested by several people. Giant_de_la_comp was way behind the 8-ball.

True enough. But as you'd know the converse of timely information is corroboration, which increases the trust you have in knowledge you already have. The higher the signal-to-noise in this thread to point out the correct message in the unlikely event the next STP-hunting poster searches first, the better I say.
