I can safely say that using this site for an unhealthy amount of hours a day has bettered my spelling and punctuation.
(It's just a matter of time before people correct my puntuation and spelling in the first sentence.)

Not especially. I'm borderline dyslexic so I've always had to take a lot of care with written documents at work. I just spellcheck every post and make an effort with the grammar and the Nazis generally leave me alone.

No. I am a librarian, cataloguer & researcher who has any written work I do inspected, & corrected, mercilessly.

I havn't been here that long, so it's hard to gather what kind of neurological damage I've sustained and whether or not it has affected my spelling.

Punctuation mate... punCt....now write it out 5 times...rememeber Look Say Cover Write Check?
You got pulled up early on I see...
Just on dcrofty's note, a friend of ours recently went on an 'understanding disabilities' course (since she is a teacher and the government is making a concerted effort at spreading awareness in that area), Im suprised that you dont hear of dyslexia and the likes, on here more often...then again, its so hard to tell over the web and most people that do have it, are probably like yourself and they make that extra effort. An interesting throught none the less.

A bit OT but thats the same story here. I do get quite confused at times. What I think sounds good in my head never makes sense of paper. I'll also write something, realise the spelling/punctuation mistake and it may take 5-6 goes to re-type it without backspacing and typing the word the exact same way. I always relate colours to numbers and visa versa which makes things f%&k off annoying and frustrating.

One would hope it has improved!
If you are writing fast and make common mistakes like becasue and alterantive and supercalofragealisticexpealadoushous then as long as its skimmable, then all is good. I hate having to slow down and actaully read the word. No one should ever do this, but when you have txt speech, you have to decipher each word and it takes longer to read and becomes a pain in the ass!
I'd wager that the enforced rules of usuing the english language and not schoolyard dribble has improved not only foreign persons skills, but also the mouth breathers skills as well.
I am supercilious?
...oh, and I hope it improves people vocobulary as well

No. Paying farkin' attention and actually making the effort to learn a damn thing when I went to school did wonders for it, though.
Sure has, my typing has also sped up a heap aswell. Although it helps spelling, it really puts me in the habit of typing essays and that shiz informally. Thats probably from reading this and various mountainbiking magazines, though.

My spelling and grammar was quite fine when I got here. I really can't see 16 year old mountain bike jocks helping me much.

No.
It's just made me paranoid about my spelling and punctuation.

I don't think that i attribute my brilliance to any assistance from farkin-ers. Seriously, i used to spell all txt styl'n but i noticed it effected my school work as i had to think when spelling anything more difficult that my name. So now i text, msn and farkin in actual words and it has helped heaps.
