So the rockers get to abuse the Emos because they look silly and their music sucks. The Emos get something else to whinge and write appalling poetry about. Everybody wins. Seriously, in this world there are Mexicans... and Mexican'ts.

I've never really seen an emo that isn't caucasion or asian. Seeing mexican emos is pretty funny.

I had a Mexican exchange student in my year in grade 11. It was sosososos funny. I don't know whether he was bunging it on or not but he looked, spoke and acted like your stereotypical Mexican.

haha it was funny watching some of the emos making sure their hair was good.

The emos will love it, just like someone else said gives them more stuff to write poems about and more bitching about how their lives suck. Even tho they have hundreds of dollars to spend on clothing and hair.

hahaha, everyone involved in that stuff from either side should be rounded up and put in a massive thunderdome. They could fight to the death, then the survivor/s would be shot.

What's wrong with me saying that? Was it offensive?

So what you're trying to tell me is that there ISN'T a stereotype which people have created for mexicans and I'm just being racist for thinking so? The dudes appearance, how he talked and mannerisms fitted the Mexican stereotype which society (mainly american) has created.

Mod or not mate, I think you're being over sensative.

Sometimes Entertaining...

Otherwise it usually leads to failed attempts at humour.

Not yet. But you're on the tipping edge of it.

And just WHAT is that stereotype, eh? I wonder what the chances are of it being complimentary? You probably also agree with stereotypes about black people, gay people, asian people, well... anybody different from you. The bottom line is, if you readily and openly say you believe and agree with stereotypes, like you said earlier about Mexican people, I think you've already shown some of your true colours. And your excuse is "well, the stereotype is already there, so it's ok for me to go along with it"?!? Just take a moment to think about that.

Mod or not mate, I think you're being over sensative.

After defending yourself like that, I think you could be a stereotypical racist.

PINT of Stella, mate!

I'm afraid he's got a very valid point there TD. To reprimand somebody for comparing somebody to a stereotype is truly political correctness gone mad. Stereotypes exist in all forms of life. You yourself can't deny that in popular culture the stereotypical Canadian tends to wear checked shirts and say 'aboot' and 'ey' regardless of the fact that most canadians live in cities and wouldn't know the first thing about cutting down trees, ey? Some stereotypes are complimentary, some less so but to deny that they don't exist at all (whether in real life or in our collective imagination) is just plain ludicrous.

I think we're all grown up enough to know that stereotypes are to be taken with a pinch of salt but sometimes we do come across people who live up to them. After all, a stereotype needs to be based on something close to the truth before it takes hold in peoples imagination. After all, I'm Scottish and I do like a drink.

Breaka's original post may not have explained himself that well but I'd by no means consider it racist. After all his friend might actually have been a really fast sombrero-wearing mouse...

A very well thought out response, POSM... and good points as well. But when somebody says It was sosososos funny. I don't know whether he was bunging it on or not but he looked, spoke and acted like your stereotypical Mexican., you gotta kind of wonder what sort of "stereotype" is being portrayed here. I doubt it's a complimenting one.

But then again, nobody was banned. No thread was locked. But you can see how this was an open door to some pretty racist stuff to surface if we didn't remind people...

And breaka, in like of POSM's comments, I withdraw my open comment about you being racist.

If you like Dave Chappelle (which I assume Breaka does judging by his avatar) then you should not be considered racist........ever.
