Not sure if these have been answered yet, if they have then if you could give me a link to the forum post then that would be great!

One brake, or two? - (I think one, but ill see what you guys think)
Hydrolic or Cable? - (Yes, i know hydrolic stops better but are cables better for this sort of stuff)
Tyres - I think holy rollers (Maxxis) but any other similar ones like K-Rad
Fork - Proberly going to get a second hand one (Dirt Jumper 1 or 2)

I sort of want it to be like that single speed Commencal bike (Absolut)

Thanks guys

(I already have a STP 1 2007)

One brake, or two? - one
Hydrolic or Cable? - Hydrolic, something like juicy fives would be good.
Tyres - yer maxxis holy rollers are good, look at shawlbe table tops also, there cheap and just as good as anything else, might wear a bit quicker though, not kenda k-rads i have them and hate them, wear to quickly and wernt that grippy in the first place.
Fork - I would invest in some manitou gold lables or rockshox argyles, i have some argyle 302's and i love em to bits.

^^^ thats what i would go, also have you decided on a frame or are you building it onto the stp 1?

My two cents worth.

1. I've just taken my front brake off and I'm not sure about it. If you've always ridden with 2 and it takes a bit to get used to. I'm 50-50 on this one.

2. Also recently replaced hydros for avid bb5s. Hydros had more power than I needed for street and dj and they would lock up as soon as I touched the rear on dirt (Yes I had hayes 9s!). Good cable discs such as bb5s or bb7 have much more feel without locking up so easily, which is all you need for dj/street. Also no fluid to leak if things go wrong and you bail your ride. Only thing I miss is the power of hydros for any trialsy type stuff.

3. Maxxis Holy Rollers - only tyres I've used since dj/street riding. No dramas at all.

4. Rock Shox Pikes are good because of lockout - I've got the adjustable travel but I never use that now.

Thanks guys, Another question, What rear hub is good for single speed?

I'm not building it on my STP, im going to sell that one near the end of this year and buy the 09 STP 0 (I can't afford the Pro :()

As for what frame I'm going to use...I don't know yet, maybe something like a DMR Trailstar, I think I want to pick a frame up off here for cheap rather then going to buy Brand New, But that just depends on what frame im going to get in the end.

*Edit* Maybe not the DMR Trailstar, i like my frames a bit thicker then this, pretty much i want to build a bike like Absolut with different parts. :)

Frame or any other part suggestions are great. Although I don't exactly have alot of money to buy the top, top, top of the line parts but i would still like decent part suggestions.

Oh, I'll probably go just for the rear brake with a long cable (for bar spins)

I would go with one hydrolic avid code or hayes stoker and it has to be a rear brake. also I would get argyles 318 with a kenda small block 8 tyres

umm why have downhill brakes for dj/street.. just go with a simple hydro or a good mech.

also if you want front brake just run the line through your forks.. then theres no front cable to get in the way.
