Hey I have put a deposit on a norco 250 and planning to race 4x. I was wondering on the conditions of racing such as;
are you aloud to race with single speed
do you need a fullface hemet to race
any other conditions
adam
you must have 2 of the following:
26" wheels
Gears
Suspension fork
so yes you can change the norco to ss as long as you have the other 2.
and yes it is compulsory to wear a full face

it is compulsory to wear a full face
That depends on the club that is running the race, as WSMTB let you run open face lids, but when i raced a state round last year I had to run the full face.
Please correct me if I'm wrong.

Last I knew it was the other way around: WSMTB makes full face helmets compulsory at it's club rounds, but State and National races are under different rules, so regular helmets are allowed.
But really, as if you wouldn't use a full face! Three other dudes on the track at the same time, going for the same bit of track that I want, and with possible kamikaze attitudes. I'm not leaving the health of my face up to them! I'm covering myself and wearing a full face.

ok well I will most defiantly run it with front suspension and single speed so I guess I will have to get 26" wheels. Does anyone know that the rules are the same for the Cairns MTB Club.

I think bar ends are necessary (sp?), but even if there not, do you really want to have a core sample of some one's leg in you bars?
And I think you'll need brakes. Brakeless with three other people on the same track = bad

Yes Cairns rules are the same and yes you need bar plugs and working brakes. You will need a fullface to but don't rush as the MTX track is still a while off yet it will be more than likely next year before the track gets sorted.

Full face certainly isn't compulsory but I highly recommend getting one, and that is some thing I am investing in, in the very near future. And yes most clubs say you have to have lock on grips with bar end plugs.
Before the race anyway they should tell you what standards you and your bike have to meet.

Its in the hands of CMBC?QPWS at the moment few people doing lots of work on the club side of things. It may happen towards the end of the year you never know your luck.
