I've been looking too and have had no luck either. Less than 2 weeks to go you'd think rego would be open by now.

Some other questions about the event for informaton for myself and other competitors/spectators:

Can someone give us a rundown of the track please? Is it similar in some aspects to PacPark?
Where should we stay? Is camping pretty good at Del Rio resort? How far is the resort from the event? Is there a kiosk there for brekky/lunch /dinner? Bar/bottlo?
IS it going to rain? If/when it does, does the track/shuttle still go alright? Will post more questions as i think of them.
Cheers

hey downhillers,
still trying to pin down entry openings. will give you the heads up asap.

so, i couldn't give you answers for that one but i may be able to shed some light on other questions.

1. track: soil structure is endemic to those of that area. i.e. sand stone based. so, sand and loose organic material on geological shelves of sydney sandstone with viens of iron stone. or ignious and silica to those of prospectorly persuassions!!....
....it's dirt and rock. ripped in the bush.

track style is a little of everything that were all used to. theres traces of lithgow, awaba ourrimbah, pacific park, crusaderland, oxford falls, kurrajong, gong tracks and any other you'd care to mention. theres 174 meters of vertical fall. flow quality is high, difficulty/techincallity is average to high, speed is average to above. pedeling minimal.
length =maybe 2km haven't measured it been busy building.times are in the 2:00 mins vacinity elite will smash this(thats my prediction) club rounds have been in this realm anyway. and the state line if anything is shorter. but length of track is more than adequate.(search these forums for existing photos, videos and write ups.)
there is (as one common feature that all threads will have to say about del sin) and that is that there is in fact a rather gruesome push up! this however has only just changed as of this week.(thanks to steve h, g-man and gang) there is in place now an alternate option of a slightly longer much genteiler push up. in fact this will become part of the xc/enduro loop in the near future(you can ride up if you care to)

2.accomadation. as stated in earlier threads on this subject, there is a shit load goin on in the valley that weekend. there is (if you don't already know) the bridge to bridge water ski /powerboat race on that weekend(*take note:the ferry will close for a short period of time during the morning to allow the pro classes through.i believe about 9ish. more on that as info comes to hand) there is also the dirt works 100 k classic on in st albans (down the road)
so.accom is at a premium and i'd be inclined to say that there is more than like bugger all .BUT. camping is applenty.
AND half price with for downhillers. the camping is good at del rio with plenty of sites available.( they recently held the slender bender weekender music festival there and catered for 7,000 people!)

3.amienities: del rio has on site, a kiosk, a bistro AND A BAR/ club. toilet, showers and kitchen ammeinities
there is also golf, tennis, BMX, water skiing (though not that weekend .due to river raceing) for those who don't have their chain gravitationally pulled by disscustingly expensive bikes and what they can do on 'em.

4. shuttles will be able to run in rain no problems. the turn around is relitively short with the push up taking the longest portion of the trip.(you know what they say : what goes up MUST come down!)

i hope that helps,
and please ask more questions if you have any.

Where are the entry forms it is a week out and still nothing? I am hoping there is no late entry charge for those who rego on the day? Is it going to be cheaper for the inconveinece? Are the clubs going to get control of the races again soon?

That said - the Clubs arent doing the entries :( this year it's Bright Orange Events :) and we are all waiting - I assure you that given the situation late entries fees will result in
murder being a week out from the race and no where to be found as yet ...

I am a little confused -- will there be shuttles for the state round or will we have to push to the top?

Cheers, and looking forward to the track. It sounds like a lot of fun.

Shuttles go 95% to the top and then you push a short section to reach the summit

I am with you Dave, and I am looking forward to riding the track I have heard many good things. I know the clubs aren't doing the entries I was having a go at BOE ;) This is why I want the power to go back to the clubs. CCOMTB will not do a race while others who can't organise are left to organise.

Wayne, we are trying to make thing easier for hosting clubs. Yes there are things that need to be ironed out and getting entries open earlier is one of them.

I haven't heard that there were any issues with the organisation of #1.

(XC #1 went off without a hitch and our club was handed their cheque before the end of racing)

And with out BOE taking on the work load at least 2 (possibly 3) of the DH venues this year would not have considered hosting a round.

guys , im not making excuses for BOE , however i do believe the guy running BOE has been very sick and this could account for the entries not being up

im sure it will happen very soon

Don't worry, it's only a State round?????

Who really cares anyway:rolleyes:

I guess this is what I am trying to say. It is a State series race it at the moment it is looking like a bunch of kids have put it on where is the series sponsors where is all the promos why is $95 now and yet we are getting nothing more then when it was $80???? I thought that by hireing BOE it was met to make this easier for the clubs and make it look like a more professional sport but still it is still seems second rate cause "BOE the organisers are not organised". it is a week to go and if I didn't get on Farkin I would no anything about this race. Why are we paying $95 why are we paying $95 why are we paying $95 to ride and race our MTB's????????????????????????????????????????????? ????????????????????????????. I don't see any value in getting these people to do "whatever it is they are supossed to do". I am only going to Del Rio cause it is close to me and new and all reports say it is fun but I should of just gone to the fun day or one of there clubby's, I am going to Coffs cause it is the best track in NSW and Awaba is the 2nd best but if it wasn't at these tracks I wouldn't go to any of the races because it costs $95 and is piss poorly organised by BOE and in my opinion not worth $95 that I am being asked to fork out. That is my rant and I hope and wish it gets better from here on out, and hope maybe I can be proved wrong.

1.practice starts at 900am on saterday. and your entry covers shuttles medics etc if you have an mtba licence then everything is coverd if not then you willl need to buy a day licence. which i believe is about 15bucks.

2. all other events online entries will be open in addvance of event dates.(not a week out). we've expierianced some technical difficulties which are being remedied. so in future this wont happen. my appoligies again.

Why are we paying $95 why are we paying $95 why are we paying $95 to ride and race our MTB's????????????????????????????????????????????? ????????????????????????????. .

Because that is what we forecasted the seriers to cost based on average numbers last year (which NSWMTB ran at a loss)

This year to make it more appealing for clubs to do all the hard work getting thing set up we factored in a payment that guarentees the clubs make money.

Yes, that is right The hosting CLUB will make money from hosting a state round regardless of what numbers turn up. this will be pumped back into that clubs endevours

At average numbers from last year this leave BOE breaking even. If they want to make money they need to do 2 things. Increase the numbers (Admittedly this stuff up hasn't helped); and seek large scale sponsorship (which we believe they will be able to do.

Yep, back in 2004 rounds cost $50 pr $60 dollars. But back then a big state round was 120 riders. You guys get that to a club round. The amount of buses required to give every one reasonable practice times cost big money. Ourimbah is blessed in it's fast turn around and long ride out so you can make do with less buses.

As for the late online. You're not happy, we're (NSWMTB) not happy and I doubt BOE is happy, as I said they needs to grow numbers if they are to make anything at all.

Hopefully Marcus id right and thing get sorted ASAP and we can move forward.

FFS it costs $95 to enter a 100km race. That doesn't include buses for 2 days shuttles....

Thanks Flynny for clearing that up for me, I am in no way having a go at any of the clubs (I thank them from the bottom of my heart for doing everything they do) and them making money to further there advancement I only see as a good thing. But when we are being asked to pay $95 and I can't see any benfit to the riders we are still getting everything we used to get but nothing more. What will the clubs actually get after everything is paid for including paying BOE to poorly promote the series? It's not like BOE didn't know the race was on and yet with less then a week to go we finally get pre rego's up. (is there still going to be a late fee applied?). I guess all that means is I will have to continue picking the State races in which I am to attend so instead of going to all 5 races at $80 ($400) I will go to 3 races at $95 ($285) I didn't go to the National champs cause of the overpricing I will be doing less of the State rounds because of what I see as overpricing, and tried to help organise a cheaper alternative. I amongst a lot of other people are thinking the same thing. I don't know how putting the price up and turning the regulars away and in turn reducing the numbers again will make it better in the end.

And finally I wouldn't enter that 100km race for 2 reasons 1. $95 is way to much for me to ride 100km and 2. I couldn't ride 100km :)

thecat

What will the clubs actually get after everything is paid for including paying BOE to poorly promote the series?

The clubs don't pay anything. Basically BOE "rent" the track off them for a price/rider negotiated on how much the venue costs and how many volunteers the clubs provide.

BOE pays for all the infrastructure, this includes toilets, first aid, timing and shuttles.

For the first time this puts our clubs at zero risk. ie they get paid whether 2 people or 500 people turn up to use the hire toilets and buses.

Of course it is in every bodies best interest, including BOE to get numbers to pick up.

I'm sure this issue a glitch and we will do everything we can to make sure it doesn't happen again.

As for entry fees... I feel your pain but things get more expensive. At the 2004 round at Lithgow we paid $450 per bus per day. The last state round at State mine that price was $650 per bus per day.... That was 2006 I have no idea what they are charging now.

The last thing we want is for people to be staying at home because they can't afford to attend state races. I am hoping that long term the private promoter will be part of the solution to rising costs (As funny as that sounds). I'm hoping by having control on the full series a private promoter can bring in big cash sponsorship and thus reduce the pressure on entry fees.
It hasn't happen yet this year, everything got held up but it is something that is being worked on,

so, im a little confused, as i havent seen it written anywhere yet. We are all staying at Del Rio Resort, and they have food, a bar, showers, toilets, camping, etc. BUT, is the race actually held at the resort, or is it outside the resort, down the road 5mins and and some dudes property?
Just wondering the whole layout of the goings on, because it would be nice to have our race tent setup double as our Onight campsite.
Also is there a DHers party/movie premier/different place everyone is going to get sloshed on saturday night?
apparently the resort has a BMX track! can we go crazy on it on the DH bikes?

there is plenty of camping at del rio resort. yes you can do skids on the bmx track. as for your tent doubleing as your accom. you'll have to make that choice on the day.
the saterday night there is a dvd premiere in the early evening and then a band in the night. on sunday arvo there will be a hip hop act in the arvo and after the prezo to combat the ques at the ferry. and i will take this oppertunity to remind every one to get there early on the sunday (if they cant do the camping thang)because THE FERRY WILL SHUT DOWN PERIODICALLY TO ALLOW THE RACEING BOATS THROUGH.at this stage we are toying with the idea of opening practice early to get everyone there bright an cheery.more news as info comes to hand.

are you ready?
ok folks, this'll be my last post for the weekend, as i'm goin down to del rio tomorrow night til monday morn.
so i'll tell you what i know.
i know online entries are open.(my appolegies once again.)
i know that the push up is a new , improved and brand spankin new one! not the burner that was.
i know too, that the del sin track is complete an ready to race.!:D
i know theres plenty of camping and it will be freakin freezing!
i know there is all ammenities at del rio. shower, toilets, kiosk, bistro,BAR, bmx, tennis, cricket, golf, swimming, jumping, sking, sitting stareing off into the stars, long strolls by the water with that special someone...... cuddling by the fire.....take it into the cabin!!.....(an just so you know. the jumping castle goes down after dark.because they got sick of hosing it off the next day!!;))
(has anybody had any luck with alternate accom?)
i know that rego will be open 7:30 ish and practice will start at 8:30 on both saterday and sunday. so be early and avoid traffic delays at the ferry as you all know that theres lots goin on in the valley on the same weekend as our state round!!
i know. that there is NO practice(under pain of dis qualification!!nasty? maybe .but thats how it is.)no practice on friday but you are more than welcome to walk the track an look at lines all you want.
i know as well. that after practice there will be a DVD premiere of mr seaton humphries latest installment of his film making prowess! at around 5:30. then, followed by a mystery party band at the beer garden on saterday night.
i know there will be a few beers... and then some more!
i know. sunday will see some of the most awsome action raceing that we will have seen in this season so far!!!(easy to say, with it only being the second round)
then in the afternoon. after prezzo we will all chill an get breezy while we wait for all the other weekend casualties to que for the ferry. while were listening to the latest tunes from local hip hop label NURCHA RECORDS with their newest signing COPTIC SOLDIER!!(yo)
i know, all too well that my poor little brain will be fried after this weekend!
but.
i say...
BRING IT!!!!!!!!!!!

there are TWO ferries at Wisemans

Well finally qualified for elite! track was so much fun, yeah the walk up took its toll on my legs over the weekend but it was worth it for the ride down. very technical and a bit of everything on that track except maybe somewhere to rest mid run.

For those who waited for the ferry home, how long? we took the dirt road out to Windsor.
