weather forecast says rain and snow overnight... do you reckon it might pan out like the 2002 interschools?

We didn't know what Mountainbiking was in 2002, so let me know what the weather was like then!!!!
It was spitting with rain just as I left Thredbo, by the time i was back in Jindy it was pouring in the hills. Not long after it started pouring in Jindy and we had a bit of a thunderstorm.
It has been snowing at Buller, Hotham & Falls Creek all afternoon, so I'm assuming we will have a fair bit of snow in the morning, especially as we will be getting it during the night when it is colder.
I saw some pics from Hotham this afternoon and it was a significant dump for this time of year.

Ok... at the 2002 Interschools it kept raining and raining and the rtack became almost unrideable, so the DH was cancelled. The weathjer pattern was pretty similar to this...

I raced the interschools DH in 1999 at Buller in SNOW, thats right, it was 4 degrees and SNOWING on DH day. And that was div.1 running the nationals course. And on a hardtail...

So the tip of bringing a set of mud tyres down was probably not the best advice- i should have said snow tyres- no wait... skis... I wonder if racing will actually happen if the conditions are like this... 5t resembles reasonbly goos skiing weather

http://www.rawnrg.com.au/racing/racing_results.html on the Raw NRG Thredbo website.....
The Dowhill had to be shortened due to the snow, starting from the terrain park/top of the Rock Garden.
An awesome job by Col, Jane, Rob, Fiona & all the Staff at Raw NRG, amazing to be able to continue racing given the weather conditions.

You oughtta try 1) plus 2) with cantis (not Vees) then I reckon you'd appreciate the hayes's .... :D I wasn't joking in my earlier post about the 99 interschools.
Good to see the young kids having to run in the winter again, years ago DH was a winter sport - before a few "celebrities" got uppity about it clashing with their attempts overseas and the race seasons got all shifted round..Call it a character building exercise.
Good stuff Gromet. Just out of interest, were there many kids on full-on DH machinery in division 3?

How so? Nobody should be sitting down in downhill... thats a good way to loose your ability to produce sperm. If you want hard on the legs do two full days of cannonball from eagles nest down to the base not sitting down.
There are a couple of places where you can rest your legs without much problems though and1.. Well that's what I found anyway!

Hahaha, that was a guy that went to my old school, tristan tait i think it was.
His time was 7:33 with a placing of (unsurprisingly) 45th (out of 45 that is in division 1, he isnt some sort of world-pro :p)
brodes, if you can get that footage onto the net somehow, i would be greatly appreciative.
He was sorta only there for a bit of fun, and a new experience.

Yeah it was tristian (troon) tait. It was so awesome. He goes to my school- Girton Grammar in Bendigo. I got an 8th in 4X in Div 3. I got cut off in my semi  !! On sat we had a snowball fight and i fell over spraining my 2nd and 3rd fingers on my left hand! ouch! So in dh i could hardly brake (BUY HYDRO'S NOT MX-1S). I hit the drop in the rock garden and couldnt stop and hit log in middle of track with crate over it and went over the handle bars and rolled 8 metres from my bike. Lost some time there. Ended up 20th in DH on a hardtail. Definetliy need bighit. we got tristians 3 attempt drop on tape. Funny as. He also shot off the first berm on 4x track on friday during practise. He was really close to the pond. He got HUGE air :D
